When the bakery has the best chocolate chip cookie in the state, it’s at the top of the list of best bakeries to try. Baking Mama’s chocolate chip cookie was given this honor by Yelp back in 2021 and locals agree. The bakery recently expanded beyond the shop on Hudson Street to a larger, commercial space for more capacity and even has a hand in one of Hoboken’s newest coffee shops, Hey Coffee People where the bakers behind the company offer the beloved ube cookie, a nod to owner Tina’s Filipino heritage. The Valastro family took over the bakery in the mid-1960s about five decades into its existence.
