Hoboken and Jersey City have no shortage of food options, including dessert. Seeing as though there’s always room for dessert (no matter how much pasta was consumed during dinner…we’re not judging) and there’s always a reason to celebrate, bakeries and sweet shops are a necessity. We’ve rounded up a list of bakeries in Hoboken and Jersey City to fulfill all sweet treat needs. Antique Bar + Bakery is a Hoboken mainstay. The bread, known as Hoboken Sticks, was a must-have for music legend and Hoboken native, Frank Sinatra, and the owners today are making sure the tradition of delectable food stays alive. Baking Mama | 88 Hudson Street, Hoboken

When the bakery has the best chocolate chip cookie in the state, it’s at the top of the list of best bakeries to try. Baking Mama’s chocolate chip cookie was given this honor by Yelp back in 2021 and locals agree. The bakery recently expanded beyond the shop on Hudson Street to a larger, commercial space for more capacity and even has a hand in one of Hoboken’s newest coffee shops, Hey Coffee People where the bakers behind the company offer the beloved ube cookie, a nod to owner Tina’s Filipino heritage. Café Unibread is home to high-quality breads and pastries. Both savory and sweet treats can be found here in lots of varieties. Carlo’s Bakery was thrust into the spotlight back in 2009 when the television network, TLC, created the reality show Cake Boss. However, it was a Hoboken staple well before the cameras. The Valastro family took over the bakery in the mid-1960s about five decades into its existence.
