We’ve compiled several lists of restaurants and bars with the best cocktails in the area, perfect for an intimate night out — clustered together in fours for easy walk-ability (but note: an Uber/Lyft may be in your favor for certain areas, as the walk can be a bit of a trek if not in downtown). This South of France-inspired locale in Hoboken has Spritz Tower that recently debuted, and it’s worth the stop in itself. The food here is also a must if you’re looking to start your evening off with some wood-fired flatbreads or other sustenance.

This neighborhood eatery and craft cocktail bar has owners that first made their way in New York City, and brought their cocktail magic to Hoboken.

Fat Taco | 32 Newark Street

Fat Taco in Hoboken specializes in Mexican food and IG-worthy cocktails, so while there are so many other fun bars in this area — if you’re looking for a massive margarita, this is the place to get one.

Newer to the scene, Metropolis is a multi-level restaurant and bar, with a rooftop, and sister bar to Belo Bar, which is right around the corner (with great cocktails as well).

Honorable Mentions:

Antique Bar + Bakery if you can get a seat, The Lola is a newer spot for a waterfront stroll, and The Cuban for a good mojito.

Hoboken Uptown

Uptown Hoboken has fewer bars than downtown, but don’t get it twisted — the quality is there. From piano serenades, while sipping martinis to sparklers and caipirinhas while eating Moroccan-inspired food — there’s no shortage of fun mixology x food in Northern Hoboken.

Dino + Harry’s | 163 14th Street

This spot has more of an old-school vibe and boasts excellent steaks (and scallops, we might add), but its dirty martinis are worth the trip. There’s also live piano music on certain nights, which takes the nostalgia to the next level.

Stingray Lounge | 1210 Washington Street

If you can score a reservation, Olivia’s has some top-notch mixology. If with a big group, this may not be the spot for you, but if you’re doing a smaller group cheers, it’s a must.

City Bistro | 56 14th Street

For the more lively crew, heading here on a nice night — or a nightcap at Madison’s — and a little dance party may be in order if it’s a Thursday-Sunday.

Tajine and other Moroccan foods are served at this uptown restaurant, but the real star is the Rockin’ Moroccan — vodka, agave, mint, and lime juice.

Usually, wine is on the brain when it comes to Grand Vin, this midtown Hoboken wine bar also creates exceptional mixology. It’s easy to sit at the bar or make a reservation prior so you can ensure a prime spot.

Italian food is easy to come by in Hoboken, but Italian food with good drinks is a little harder. Il Tavolo is a beloved neighborhood haunt that serves up chicken parm with the best of them, and an Aperol spritz to write home about. It’s got a full bar and a back room for events, should you want to make a party out of it.

Saku | 936 Park Avenue

This sushi bar-meets-cocktail lounge has a fun ambiance that is fun for omakase style or just ordering off the menu. The drinks are fresh and usually garnished with a floral to complete the look, if nothing else, to look pretty for IG.

A hop, skip, and a jump away from Saku, this is an ideal spot for a cucumber martini nightcap (or a spot to get the night started if you’re a late bloomer). This long-standing bar/restaurant is known for its martinis and buffalo shrimp (together or separately), and is a great spot to dance the night away — depending on the night, if that’s your thing.
