As of April 19th, signage had gone up in the former Village Pourhouse-turned-The Inn location at 205 First Street in Hoboken. Dear Maud, the name of the new Irish-style restaurant, was announced to have been taking over the space of the once-popular casual bar. Now, the new eatery has officially opened its doors as of June 28th. We spoke with one of the owners for some exclusive insight on what locals can expect at Dear Maude — read on for all the details.
Background
Readers may recall that The Inn was one of the larger bars in town with a spacious bar situated in the middle, a smaller one in the back which was often the dance area, and had tables with seating around the perimeter. It also served Irish-American fare but had more of a neighborhood sports bar vibe, with happy hour deals that locals loved.
Dear Maud is the space’s new owners’ first business in Hoboken. The same owner also owns Jackdaw NYC, which is also inspired by his Irish roots, and another restaurant in Florida called Lulu’s in Delray Beach. The ownership team is from Sligo, a town in western Ireland, and they’re excited to highlight their culture in the Mile Square.

All About Dear Maud
As for the concept, we know that Dear Maud has a heavy Irish influence with an emphasis on the food and drinks. To be clear, this isn’t another pub in town to catch a game — the restaurant will be serving cocktails, craft beers, dinner, and a big brunch menu on the weekend.
