About

by Jennifer Tripucka

Welcome to The Hoboken Girl.

We are not one person.

We are not a massive company (team of 5 full-time!).

We don’t have investors.

We’re not just a social media account.

BUT we are:

  • (one) woman-owned
  •  a small team of locals
  • lovers of all things local in Hoboken + Jersey City
  • a lifestyle media site dedicated to all things happening locally
  • your neighbors

the hoboken girl team the local girl media group

If you want the longer version, here it is:

The Hoboken Girl site was originally founded in 2012 by Jennifer Tripucka as a personal blog when her love for our Mile Square turned into a low key obsession combined with a desire to write and share experiences at local businesses in Hudson County (+ having grandparents who owned businesses in Hudson County).

On New Year’s Even 2012, Jen bought the domain name HobokenGirl.com, and since that moment, she decided to devote her extracurricular time to chronicling all adventures in Hoboken and its surrounding areas. At the time, Jen was working as a school counselor in a public school in New Jersey, living in Hoboken, then she went on to work as an editor at Conde Nast for several years, but fast-forward to 2017, and she finally took Hoboken Girl full time.

The site has grown into a lifestyle media site all about Hoboken + Jersey City — with over 3 million visitors annually— with all topics written by ~15 contributors and five full-time team members.

In the past 5 years, we’ve launched sister sites in other regions including The Montclair Girl, The Bergen County Girl, The Jersey Shore Girl, and The Catskills Girl — all by different hyperlocal teams in their respective areas. This is all under Jen’s parent brand she created, called The Local Girl Media Group.
