Luckily for locals, Suite Tee Beauty Studio in Jersey City can offer a little bit of paradise right here at home for those looking to escape. Tee Hundley, the owner of Suite Tee, is what many locals describe as “zen.” The studio’s charming beach decor and calming atmosphere beautifully capture Tee’s love of the ocean and Caribbean. The Background
Suite Tee Beauty Studio was opened in November of 2018 by celebrity manicurist and wax specialist, Tee Hundley. Tee never thought she would be doing nails, but she always had a desire to pursue waxing services.
“I had an amazing job in the fashion photography industry and after 12 years decided I wanted to do something different,” Tee explains. She started to work on her idea of opening a salon, and many of her coworkers were encouraging her to pursue a career as a manicurist, but Tee wanted nothing to do with it. Then, she ended up booking a job that would change her mind and her life forever.

“I ended up having a great career as a freelance manicurist for eight-plus years, and still do,” she explains. Tee had the opportunity to work with major models and celebrities such as Iman, Kate Moss, Ashley Graham, Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, and Hillary Clinton, but something was still missing. “I’ve always had in my heart that I wanted to create a beauty space where people can receive exceptional service and get a little bit of therapy,” she explains. “Suite Tee is born out of my love {okay, obsession} with anything tropical, the beach, and my desire for everyone to feel chill.”
The Studio
Tee originally planned on opening her studio in Journal Square, where she lived in 2007 when she came up with the idea. “I moved to downtown Jersey City in 2011 and really loved the area,” Tee explains. She never thought she could afford a spot downtown, but quickly learned that the universe sometimes works in your favor.
The studio is now on Newark Avenue in downtown Jersey City. The walls are lined with photos of palm trees and beaches for a tropical vibe. Tee describes Suite Tee as “slow beauty created for wellness” so she takes every detail very seriously. Tee explains that “there are never more than two people in the studio so it feels like you have a little piece of paradise to yourself for a while.”
The Services
Suite Tee currently offers full body waxing, natural nail services, and spray tanning. Tee wants her customers to feel pampered, and as if they are transported to a tropical paradise during their service. She recently added sauna services to the menu.

In addition to her services, Suite Tee also sells a variety of beauty products from women and/or black-owned brands. She offers body scrubs, oils, lotions, nail kits, and now even scented hand sanitizers. One of the brands she carries is Body By Bella, a black-owned beauty brand based in New Jersey.
Suite Tee also offers mobile spa services mainly for corporate or private events, celebrities, and high-end clients, but are currently out of commission due to the pandemic.
