About Amanda

Amanda Hauer is no stranger to the fitness community or to the Mile Square. She has taught at several locations around town for nearly a decade and is former co-owner of Align Pilates. She was introduced to Pilates as a way to enhance her career as a professional dancer and truly fell in love with the movement. After becoming a mother, she found an even deeper love and appreciation for this form of movement and how when combined with a spiritual practice and balanced nutrition, she saw an improvement in her life and the lives of those around her.

About the Studio

Hobbs Inc

Hoboken Girl had a chance to chat with Amanda while checking out the studio and hopping on the reformers.

“Our Pilates classes are a full-body workout, strengthening and stretching every inch of your body, with a deep emphasis on your core muscles. Our approach is contemporary while pulling from classical moves, you will certainly see a lot of innovative exercises in class! Not only will you get a kicka** workout, but you will also shift your mindset and elevate your energy,” Amanda shared.

Elevate is an intimate studio that allows for both private sessions and group classes with a personal feel. The studio has five reformers along with space for floor work so that instructors can offer personalized modifications and hands-on assistance for every student.

In addition to offering traditional Pilates classes, Elevate plans to host workshops based on fitness and mindfulness. As a mother of two herself, Amanda enjoys working with other Hoboken moms and plans to host workshops focused on moms.  Many classes are pre- and post-natal friendly

“I am a mom of two and know the stresses that come along with having children and working, or even being a full-time stay at home mom, which let’s face it, is a job in of itself. I want moms to feel comfortable working out whether that be pre/postnatal with or without a baby in tow. All of the classes at Elevate Pilates are BYO{baby}, to allow moms the time they need to focus on themselves,” Amanda said. “There are so many benefits to pre/postnatal Pilates that I want to be able to share that with all the Hoboken mamas! Educating women on their bodies during this vulnerable and magical time is very important to me. We plan on having a lot of events focused on this specifically.”

The Classes

Amanda led us through a Pilates class that was fun, yet challenging. She was able to guide us using the reformer to tone arms, legs, and core while making the workout enjoyable.

It was easy to see the benefits of practicing in this environment as Amanda was able to ask a few questions ahead of our session and quickly tailor the class to our preferences. Amanda explained that this is how all of her classes are structured.

“Everyone is different and not one way of moving works for everyone. I want to teach people to tune in and tap into their intuitive selves so that they can live a life of awareness, expansion, and happiness. While one day your body may call for something a little more gentle and restorative, the next it may call for something more intense and high energy, Elevate is here for you for it all,”  she said.

“With intimate classes maxed out at six people, you will always be getting personal attention and hands-on corrections. Your instructor will offer you modifications and/or advancements so that your body is getting exactly what it needs from the class. Enhance your workout with meditation or holistic health coaching.”
