In most cases, a doula is utilized during pregnancy to prepare a woman for birth and then present during the delivery to ensure the mother-to-be is calm, breathing correctly, and focused during delivery. They are trained professionals who can assist in natural pain relief for those looking for alternatives to medicine.

Lactation Consultants

What is a Lactation Consultant?

If you are having issues with breastfeeding, this is where a lactation consultant would come in to help and work their magic. Most will come to your house and assist you in feeding your newborn with the proper breastfeeding techniques while ensuring comfort and privacy.

Keep in mind that some hospitals will also provide a lactation consultant to visit you and your new bundle of joy during your stay after delivery. Although you might still want to see one when you arrive home, it is worth checking with your hospital to see if this free service is available.
