All About Sattva Yoga in Jersey City

Purity, wholesomeness, and virtue are just three of the words that make up the definition of “sattva.” So, it makes sense that one of Jersey City’s newer yoga studios bears this name. Located in The Heights {at 523 Palisaded Avenue}, Sattva Yoga has coined itself as one of the most approachable and affordable studios in Hudson County. We took a trip to Jersey City for a Saturday morning class and instantly felt the community that is being built here. Read on to find out more.

About Sattva Yoga

One of the main missions of sattva is to “discover yoga for everybody and for every body.” As one of the only facilities offering special practices for very beginners, regular attendees, family classes, childhood development classes, and more, Sattva is well on its way to sharing this mission with their community.

The Experience

The teachers at Sattva hold advanced certificates making them a highly-experienced yoga team. We could feel the experience of our instructor immediately. She moved the class of 12 yogis beautifully through an hour of Vinyasa Flow. Towards the end of the hour, we were guided through an enhancement of our headstand practice. Taking time with students to work on advanced moves added a nice touch to this class as this isn’t always offered at all studios. The spacious studio at Sattva allows for free movement and the opportunity to learn all that the instructors have to share.

The Classes

The most diverse list of classes can be found at Sattva. Yin yoga and meditation, prenatal yoga, restorative classes, post-natal bring the baby flow, sunrise flow, and more. This is in addition to workshops and events that are offered on a consistent basis. Check out their site here for more on these courses.

This is just the beginning of all that Sattva has to offer. For any attendees looking to take their practice even further, teaching training can be completed in studio or guests can sign up for domestic and international yoga retreats. Overall, Sattva offers a  very positive experience. Relax, recharge, and reconnect before taking on the day {or week or month or rest of the year} at this JC studio.

Originally hailing from down the shore in Hazlet, NJ, the girls made their "rite of passage" move to Hoboken a few short years after graduating with degrees in Communications from Loyola University. Outside of their 9-5 as senior publishers in NYC, the twins can be found baking cookies, reading the latest books, or walking their yorkie-poo Chica. Like many 20-somethings, Jordan and Joelle are balling on a budget and know how to score the best deals around town
