Hoboken + Jersey City Bars with Outdoor TV Setups

Even though rules for indoor dining have been {moderately} lifted, many sports bars and other TV-centric establishments are still offering outdoor seating. The challenge presented was how could these restaurants continue to serve their loyal customers, keep intact their sports bar reputation, and follow the new outdoor dining rules, all at the same time. 

Now, not all places are able to swing an outdoor TV setup for their newly minted patio seating. Some locations are simply not equipped to continue their sports bar functionality. But luckily, some have managed to pull it off. A handful of bars in Hoboken and Jersey City have made the move toward outdoor seating with the added bonus of outdoor TVs. We’ve done the work so you don’t have to call bars and ask if they have a TV outside which makes it easy for football season. Here’s the list of outdoor bars in Hoboken + Jersey City:


City Bistro {56 14th Street}

Diners and those looking for a cool drink in the sweltering summer heat will love going to one of Hoboken’s premier rooftop bars. City Bistro offers a wide selection of delicious drinks and foods, patio seating, as well as a rooftop bar area with TVs. Customers can grab a bite or a drink, enjoy the rooftop vistas, and watch TV, all while maintaining the current safety standards. City Bistro also offers a selection of High Noon Sun Sips Vodka and Soda drinks, all of which pair perfectly with the rooftop atmosphere.

Green Rock Tap & Grill {70 Hudson Street}

The Green Rock Tap and Grill in Hoboken is the quintessential sports bar, complete with TVs and all kinds of booze and food to enjoy. While customers may not have seen Green Rock’s rustic interior for quite some time, the patio is open and offering the locale’s delightful drinks and food outdoors along with televisions. Customers can grab a table on the patio, watch the game, and kick back with some delicious cocktails and treats.

Mulligan’s {159 1st Street}

Mulligan’s is the spot for all manner of football fans {and by football, we mean soccer}. Sports fans have been flocking to Mulligan’s for years for its drinks, delicious food {including the all-day Irish breakfast}, and its TVs for watching the game. Though the pandemic presented Mulligan’s with a bump in the road, this Mile Square spot has bounced back and now offers patio seating with TVs so that classic Mulligan’s feeling isn’t lost. 

The Shepherd and the Knucklehead {1313 Willow Avenue}

Voted NJ.com’s number one craft beer destination, The Shepherd and the Knucklehead continues to uphold its promise of good food, drinks, and service, even in these trying times. The Shep boasts a lovely outdoor patio area complete with TVs and full service so customers can get what they’ve always gotten from The Shepherd and the Knucklehead: quality. This spot is open every day, and serves brunch on Sundays though it is recommended you call to make a reservation because it does fill up.

McSwiggans Pub (110 First Street)

Anyone looking for a night out in Hoboken need look no further than Hoboken mainstay, McSwiggans Pub. With TVs outside, McSwiggans offers a full menu, including some delicious Irish staples, and a signature cocktail menu not to be missed. McSwiggans is an excellent place for a delightful and safe night out.

Pilsener Haus Biergarten {1422 Grand Street}

For an authentic Biergarten experience in Hoboken with outdoor TVs, it’s hard to find a locale better than the Pilsener Haus Biergarten. Pilsener offers a staggering selection of beers, hard seltzers and ciders, wine, cocktails, and traditional Biergarten fare like pretzels and brats. Boasting a lovely outdoor area, Pilsener remains a great destination even during the pandemic.

Cork City {239 Bloomfield Street}

Boasting 50+ taps and 100+ bottles, Cork City is a wonderful destination for those needing to kick back and enjoy a drink in the summer heat. Cork City’s beer menu is almost overwhelming, and customers would be hard pressed to leave without finding a new favorite beer. Come down for a beer, shandy, or wine and stay for the ambience, complete with TVs.

The Shannon {106 First Street}

It’s hard to find a more quintessential Hoboken bar destination than The Shannon. A killer beer selection, cocktails galore, and TVs in their outdoor area make The Shannon the perfect nighttime getaway. An evening at The Shannon is bound to be a good time.

Jersey City

Hudson Hall {364 Marin Boulevard}

Hudson Hall in Jersey City simply oozes character. And although so much of that character comes from its indoor ambience, the charm isn’t lost on outdoor customers. Hudson Hall’s walk-up windows offer customers a TV, food, drinks, and a great night out. The patio area has several tables for customers to sit down and enjoy their evening at a safe distance while never losing Hudson Hall’s signature vibe.

Six26 Lounge & Rooftop {128 Christopher Columbus Drive}

Jersey City’s Six26 Lounge & Rooftop is open through the pandemic, offering all of its amenities at their rooftop bar. Six26’s signature cocktails, delicious food, and fun outdoor ambiance are all available. They’ve taken all the necessary safety precautions, with every table displaying a sign regarding mask etiquette. Even through the pandemic, Six26 continues their tradition of Sunday brunch from 12PM to 4PM. Six26 remains one of the most fun destinations in JC, even during these trying times.
