Hudson Hall: The Jersey City Smokehouse Open for Delivery

Written by:

Although it’s been chilly as of late, spring is in the air and that could really only mean one thing — barbecue season is around the corner. Now, we understand that physically going out to get barbecue is a bit tricky at the moment, but that’s where Hudson Hall {364 Marin Boulevard} comes in – this Jersey City spot combines smoked meats and an extensive list of craft brews and cocktails to keep your appetites satiated, even from a distance, as it’s open for takeout and delivery. All about this local spot:

The Vibe

OK, here’s a quick preview of what to expect inside this Marin Boulevard spot when we can all physically visit again. Inside, despite the beamed ceilings and large projector TVs, the vibe in Hudson Hall is low-key and intimate. The added exposed brick and vintage signage make it great for a date night, while the picnic table seating in the main room accommodates a variety of sized groups. The proof is in the pudding – weekends at Hudson Hall are filled with families, friends, and dogs celebrating life’s events. What’s even better is that if you walk through the tunnel and pass the bathrooms, suddenly you’re at the Deli – a gorgeous room which provides a quieter alternative on weekends. It’s hard to argue that Hudson Hall isn’t here to provide an awesome experience for everyone.

The Drinks

We understand that the days of sitting at a crowded bar with your pals sipping on delicious libations are long gone…for now. But when the time does come when we can bring those dreams back to fruition, then Hudson Hall is the place to go for drinks. The delicious menu will please even the pickiest drinker in your group – featuring everything from strawberry frosé with fresh lemon and honey to a comprehensive list of scotch, bourbon, and rye. The beer selection is a healthy mix of European and domestic crafts, with some local favorites peppered in, such as the neighboring Departed Soles. Moral of the story – keep Hudson Hall on your radar for when drink’s night is a thing again.

The Food

Here’s the deal — be sure to check out the full menu before you load up on starters {not speaking from experience or anything}. From the oysters to the pastrami egg rolls, these apps are anything but a “snack.” Feast your eyes on the sandwiches {pulled pork, schnitzel, short ribs, and more} or style your own sausage sandwich with your choice of kielbasa, hotlink, bratwurst, or plant sausage. If you really want to get your hands dirty, check out the smoked meats section complete with a whole rack of St. Louis Ribs. And for those in the mood for something sweet, be sure to order a doughnut. Oh, and be sure to try Hudson Hall’s fresh hot doughnuts {powdered sugar, cinnamon-sugar, glazed} for something seriously delicious to top off your meal with. So, as it says on the wall in the physical restaurant, “Be Good or Be Gone!”

Born and raised in Madison, this authentic Jersey tomato has ripened in Hudson County for the last seven years. As a graduate of Northeastern University’s D'Amore-McKim School of Business, Chloe’s been nerding out over Excel spreadsheets {and stalking you on the internet} since she took her first internship at Efficient Frontier in NYC. Don’t let her college choice fool you, she is a diehard Met’s fan and has the weathered scorebook to prove it. When she’s not dodging armpits and elbows on the PATH, she can usually be found watching Jurassic Park {the original, obviously} for the billionth time, talking to every Jersey City dog she passes, or finishing the last slice of pizza.
