Although we’re all home for good reason, the usual excitement that comes along with venturing out of the house to try a new restaurant has been put on hold. However, that doesn’t mean that trying new cuisine is completely out of the question. Enter,  Mamak House. The recently renovated Mamak House, located at 250 Route 440 in Jersey City, is the perfect fuse of Malaysian and Chinese cuisine that can be ordered +  delivered right to your door. Here’s what to expect from the menu:

About Mamak House

“[We] saw an opportunity [in] Jersey City since this is the only area that lacks these types of food,” owner Edison Zhou told Hoboken Girl in an email. And, since it’s located on the water right off the highway, between the Greenville and Hackensack River Waterfront neighborhoods {close to the Bayonne border}, the convenient location makes it easy to get to from nearly anywhere in Hudson County.

The long, all-encompassing menu has something that is sure to make everyone drool with desire — from Thai lettuce wraps and wonton soup to pad Thai, fried rice, and sesame chicken. There’s plenty of vegetarian options, too, like mango tofu {a dish with sauteed tofu and sliced mango in a sweet and spicy mango sauce} and a vegetarian take on sesame chicken and golden fish. Whether you’re craving a savory seafood dish, classic fried rice, or even a casserole, Mamak House’s menu can satisfy any appetite.

The menu is crafted by a chef with decades of experience in Malaysian cuisine and features a combination of traditional dishes and updated takes on classic items. The restaurant even boasts house specials like Thai pineapple and mango shrimp and the best part —, the menu is very affordably priced. Rice dishes start at $7.25, and seafood dishes are priced at roughly $22.

When the days of being able to physically visit are back, if you head to Mamak House for lunch on a weekday, though, you’re in for a special treat — from 11:00AM-3:00PM from Monday to Friday, the restaurant offers a special lunch menu. For just $6.95, you can nab a pad Thai or kung pao chicken dish without breaking the bank.

Inside, the space is cozy and inviting. There’s a mixture of multicolored, printed tiles and gorgeous plank flooring, exposed brick panels and columns, and a mixture of high top tables and classic dining ones. The standout decoration, however, is a wooden planked wall, complete with different colored pieces in a textured, jigsaw pattern. And there are plenty of windows for natural light.

When things are back to normal and if your dinner plans start at the same time as your favorite sporting event, fear not, there’s a quaint bar stocked with all kinds of liquor, wine, and beer {including craft beer} and complete with large TVs, so there is no compromise required. Plus, we love the matching textured subway tiles that line the back and front of the bar.
