About the Team

The team behind Punjab Meet House is behind some of NYC’s most popular Indian and Indian-fusion restaurants. Owner Jimmy Rizvi lives in Jersey City, according to EaterNYC, and wanted to bring a new take on Indian dining to the community. With approximately 12% of Jersey City residents being Asian Indian, he felt it would be a natural fit, and a change from the casual and takeout spots that he observed.

Since 2015, Jimmy and his team have opened nine other restaurants in the NYC area, including Bungalow in the East Village, which is the recipient of a Michelin Bib Gourmand award. Chef Vikas Khanna heads the kitchen in many of these projects. Chef Khanna is an award-winning chef, humanitarian, and the host of Iron Chef India. The two have collaborated on several projects that feature different aspects of Indian cuisine, often featuring a different geographical region or a time period.

The menu has traditional street food and chaat, plus a tandoor section, curries, and more, according to EaterNY. One dish in particular, a whole bone-in leg of lamb with Yemeni spice, overnight slow-roasted and carved tableside, will require 24-48 hours’ notice to order.

There is a full bar, with specialty cocktails inspired by the region through spices, history, and names.
