Food trucks have been a staple for a good home-cooked meal on wheels in the downtown area and beyond. Many festivals and events bring these food trucks and restaurants together, showcasing delicious foods, desserts, and coffee. Since many food trucks travel throughout Hoboken and Jersey City, we’ve rounded up the top ten that have converted into storefronts. Angry Archies has been in the food truck business since 2015, selling seafood dishes throughout Jersey City. The team opened a brick-and-mortar shop in 2023. With the famous crab cakes in the spotlight, the menu is debuting its lobster rolls, crab poutine, chicken sandwiches, mac and cheese, and specialty french fries. Orders can also be placed through the food truck window and online. Angry Archies is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12PM-9PM, and on Sundays from 12PM-8PM. Dark Side of the Moo | 52 Bowers Street, Jersey City

Dark Side of the Moo had been a food truck since 2012 but expanded quickly in 2015 to a storefront serving different burgers and sandwiches of exotic meats. Some sandwiches and burgers are the pulled pork sandwich, truffle upagus, chicken royal wrap, and mike bison burger. Other meats and dishes are the smoked alligator sausage sandwich, wild boar tacos, and a moo-moo platter serving alligator wild boar and kangaroo samples. Dark Side of the Moo is open Monday through Thursday from 4PM-9PM, Friday from 11AM-9PM, and Saturday through Sunday from 12PM-9PM.

Gringo’s Tacos has been a long-time food truck and restaurant pair in the Jersey City area. With assorted tacos, quesadillas, a brunch menu, drinks, a taco Tuesday menu, and a dessert menu, it has expanded its range from its food truck kitchen. Gringo’s is open Tuesday through Thursday 5PM-11PM, Friday 4PM-1AM, Saturday 12PM-1AM, and Sunday 12PM-9PM. The food truck is still available to book for events and other catering services.

 

 

Hybrid Coffee + Kitchen | 398 Manila Avenue, Jersey City

Hybrid Coffee + Kitchen recently became a beautiful brick-and-mortar storefront serving delectable coffees and assorted goodies after serving Jersey City from a homey food truck. Coffee, tea, iced drinks, a small but simple breakfast menu, and smoothies are just a few of the items on its menu. Hybrid Coffee is open Monday through Friday from 8AM-4 PM and offers pick-up by ordering through its website.

Jerkin Chicken | 234 West Side Avenue, Jersey City

Jerkin Chicken has its roots deep in the food truck business, with three trucks still operational even after opening up its storefront. From wheels to a stationary kitchen, provides catering and home cooking to parts of New Jersey and Jersey City. Its food truck and restaurant menu are similar though the food truck carries a mobile catering menu. Other items are wraps, salads, tacos, and sides. Open hours are Monday through Saturday 10AM-8PM.

Mod Cup Coffee has been a mobile food truck since 2012 and has flourished into two coffee shops throughout Jersey City. The freshly roasted coffee with different aromas and blends makes a cup of coffee here a delightful experience. Cold brew, decaf, and espresso are just a few of the items on the menu. Mod Cup is open seven days a week from 8AM-5PM.

No Forks Given | 115 Bushwick Street, Jersey City

No Forks Given recently opened a storefront after being on the road for several years with its food truck. The restaurant menu has been revamped from the food truck creating new flavors and combinations. Sandwiches, fries, tacos, and cheesesteaks scatter the menu with sauces and drinks to pair. No Forks Given is open Wednesday through Thursday 11:30AM-8:30PM, Friday from 12PM-9PM, Saturday from 10AM-9PM, and Sunday from 10AM-4PM.

Trade Winds II has been a driving force of traditional Guyanese cooking in the Jersey City area, bringing the comforts of a small island to the city. From a food truck to a brick-and-mortar storefront, Trade Winds II expanded its food truck menu, adding more dishes and sides. Bowls, rolls, doubles, wraps, and sides are a few of the listed categories. Open hours are Monday through Saturday from 11AM-8PM.

Torta Truck began as a small food cart in 2010, selling tortas in the Jersey City area, quickly becoming the locals’ go-to breakfast. Several years later, after upgrading to a bigger food truck, the storefront opened, debuting all the fan favorites from the truck. The biria tacos, tortas, and tacos are just a few of the menu items. Torta Truck is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12PM-8PM and Sunday from 11AM-5PM.

Venti Italian Specialities opened a storefront in 2023  after beginning its journey as a food truck in 2018. The menu features Italian favorites like fresh mozzarella, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soups, and pasta. Drinks, sweet treats, and cooking necessities are also displayed throughout the store. Lady G Empanadas | 269 Ocean Avenue, Jersey City

Lady G Empanadas, which serves up a variety of sweet and savory empanadas, is opening its first storefront in the Greenville Section of Jersey City, per Jersey Digs. The new restaurant will be called Lady G Bar + Grill, and signage is already up on Ocean Avenue. No details about the menu have been released yet, but customers can follow along with updates on Lady G’s Empanadas’ Instagram.

Lomo Truck | 501 Central Avenue, Jersey City

The owner of Lomo Truck shared with HG that the food truck will be opening a storefront in Jersey City Heights at 501 Central Avenue soon. Lomo Truck serves Peruvian fare, and has two other food truck locations in Garfield and Woodland Park. Follow along for updates on Instagram.
