Core Indoor: Cycling Revamped in Jersey City

Makeovers are often thought of in the context of hair, makeup, and wardrobe. But not this time. One of our favorite cycle studios in JC just debuted its own makeover — and well, we’re sold. Core Indoor {189 Brunswick St, Jersey City},  is one of Jersey City’s newer locales.  If the address looks familiar, it is because Core Indoor formerly housed Rush Cycling. About a year ago, we joined in on the unique class at Rush Cycle {yes, we are still sore} and couldn’t wait to hop back on the bikes with the new feel at this new studio.

Core Indoor goes against the grain and pushes its students to a whole new level of spin. While the bikes are defined as stationary, they are mobile from side to side engaging cyclers’ entire body. This hardcore, punk-rock-esque studio is the essence of its new tag line “rebels welcome.” Read on to learn more about the Core Indoor as a new way to cycle in Jersey City:

About Core Indoor

Known as the “rebel against the norm of traditional stationary bikes,” Core Indoor prides itself on being unlike any other cycle class. Students can take their turn at RealRyder brand bikes which pivot from side to side and create an unstable environment {don’t worry — you will not fall off, we promise}. Think entire body movement — core engaged, arms fired up, chest and back used to move the bike, and of course, legs pumping. Lead coach Heidi shares that cyclers coming to Core Indoor can expect to work. This class is not for those who just want to say they work out, it is for those looking to get real results and looking to have a challenge. Yes, getting used to the bike takes time but, the entire team of coaches is there to help every step of the way.

The Experience

Core Indoor has one signature class, Core Complete. Because the bikes work every part of the body, riders can get a full workout during the 45-minute class time. Unlike most studios in the area, there are only 16 bikes per class allowing for a super personalized and sometimes even customized experience. The small group class is intentionally designed for a more effective workout. In fact, the RealRyders bikes are proven to burn 20% more calories than standard stationary bikes.

Ambiance

A main change to the previous space t Core Indoor is the wall art and intensified music. Around the room are over-sized tattoo art images and neon lights creating a hardcore feel that amplifies the high energy already felt during the class. Our instructor Heidi worked just as hard as her class all while guiding us through left, right, front, back, motions. The dedication to the craft of cycling is seen and felt from the time the lights go down and the music turns on straight through the end.
