• The Best Chicken Wings {in Hoboken} Depending on Your Cravings

    Written by:

    When the craving hits, nothing is better than the perfect plate of wings {with celery, blue cheese and beer, obvs.} Often underrated in summer months and then overly-consumed {but not really} during Football season, whether they’re buffalo, BBQ, sesame, or any other style – one things for sure – they’re delicious. And in Hoboken, finding the best wings is easier said than done.

    To guide you, we’ve created a roundup of our favorite Hoboken spots for eating wings, depending on your cravings. Here they are:

    Carpe Diem {For When You Want Award-Worthy Wings}

    This semi-hidden uptown gem is cozily nestled across from BowTie cinemas and serves up some of the most delicious wings in town. And, you don’t have to just take our word for it – they’ve won Best Wings in Hoboken two years running at the St. Francis “Wing and a Prayer” contest. With varieties including buffalo, BBQ, hoisin, or honey — you can cozy up next to their fireplace and indulge in a variety of their wings, along with tons of other options, beers and cocktails. Unfortunately they USED TO offer free unlimited wings during games, but since it became so popular they had to scale back. Still totes worth the $.

    Mikie Squared {For When You Want to Man the Jukebox + Drink Sangria}

    In the heart of Hoboken {smack dab in the middle of Washington Street}, Mikie Squared is more than just the perfect semi-dive bar. Its menu offerings are impressive and tasty {their wraps and sweet potato fries = OMG}, and their wings are pretty darn good, too. Boasting the title of the “Freshest WINGS Around,” options range they serve up buffalo {hot, medium, mild}, honey BBQ, or their award winning “Maple Chipotle” flavor. For those who prefer to eat their “wings” with a fork and knife, they also offer crispy chicken tenders buffalo style {a safer yet just as tasty option for first-dates and neat freaks!}

    Cluck-U {For When You Want Chicken Wing Delivery}

    Craving wings in the comfort of your own home? While having a college student draw, Cluck-U is the spot for wings on a night in — especially with wings being their specialty. There are tons of options for every palate, appetite, and party size: wings, “wingers” {just a fancy way of saying a large amount of wings with any delicious sauce + a side of blue cheese or ranch}, boneless wings, breast bites, and mini bites. You can choose from 12 sauces {from the mildest teriyaki to the dare-to-go-there 911 flavor}. Hosting a large party? You can even opt to order buckets or up to 2,500 Wingers {yes you read that correctly, 2500}. Pepto-please!

    Black Bear {For When You Want to Watch the Game and Eat Wings}

    Looking for wings, fun vibes and specials? Head on over to Black Bear on Tuesdays. For $19.99 you can indulge in a bucket of wings and a pitcher of Yuengling as you kick back and celebrate conquering the first two days of the work week. Not a Tuesday? No problem. They offer wings on their appetizer menu daily with 9 sauces to choose from (we love Chipotle BBQ!) and also offer them in boneless bite form “Bear Bites” as well as on buffalo shrimp for pescatarians and seafood lovers alike.

    City Bistro {For When You Want to Eat Wings Outside}

    This three-floor restaurant, bar and lounge specializes in American fare – and what’s more American than wings? Whether you like them hot, BBQ, or teriyaki, they’re available on both their Dinner and Lunch menus, and Brunchers can also opt for the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich using the same deliciously tangy sauce. {Bonus points if you enjoy these on their rooftop deck with a perfectly paired cocktail.}

    Green Rock {For When You Want to Eat LOTS of Wings on a Budget}

    One of Hoboken’s most popular downtown after-work happy hour bars {known for its dollar beers} ALSO offers a way to satisfy your wings craving whilst on a budget. Amongst their traditional menu of pub fare, Green Rock offers BBQ, honey mustard, or buffalo wings traditionally prepared — but also boasts buffalo chicken dip and a buffalo chicken salad for lovers of the cuisine to chow down on at one of Hoboken’s most popular bars. Head on over on Thursdays for 2-for-1 appetizers, or on Saturday’s for 50-cent wings until 7pm, along with other festive daily specials.

    10th and Willow {For When You Want Buffalo Wings…With a TWIST!}

    buffalo-shrimp-10th-and-willow-hoboken

    Yes, you can crave buffalo chicken wings — but for those seafood lovers, 10th and Willow has some BOMB AF {excuse our French} buffalo shrimp chicken wings. Battered in a bread-crumb based wing sauce with buffalo to make it that ideal spicy-yet-savory flavor, you will not be disappointed. And their regular wings are nothing to scoff at, either.

    So there you have it — the best spots to nosh on some buffalo wings {for every type of situation and flavor craving}.
