Alts was founded in 2014 in New York City and quickly rose to become one of the best alternation companies in the area. Providing services like standard and bridal alterations and custom clothing, publications like Vogue, Forbes, Harper’s Bazaar, and Refinery 29 have reported on its exemplary work. In 2019, Vogue titled Alts “New York’s Most Genius Tailor.”
According to its website, the tailors and seamstresses at Alt work with a wide range of materials, from leather to denim to wool to fur. Courtney shared with HG that the company works with “classic garments to the most complicated, luxurious fabrics on the market.”
Sustainability is also an important practice at this company. With alternations and tailoring being the core of Alts, “environmental and community impact is central to every decision [it] make[s],” as per its website.
Hoboken locals can expect the same kind of work and practices at its Washington Street location in April.
