Keep reading for some unique ways to be active indoors in Jersey City + Hoboken this winter.

Join a Basketball League

Consider signing up for an indoor adult basketball league if you want to stay accountable for your fitness goals. It’s so much harder to back out of a workout if you’re part of a team. Plus, playing basketball is a fun way to stay active and meet people without going to a crowded gym and trying to find a spot to lift weights. Next Basket Wins and ZogSports both run basketball leagues in Hoboken.

Play Ping Pong at Play Hoboken

Not only is ping pong fun, but it’s also great cardio. Play Hoboken brings you multiple ping-pong tables along with billiards, e-sports, darts, board and card games, golf, and more. Located on the 3rd floor at 1012 Grand Street, Play Hoboken is open every day of the week.

Register for a Volleyball Team

If basketball isn’t your thing, why not join a volleyball league? ZogSports puts on co-ed volleyball in both Hoboken and Jersey City. This league allows individual sign-ups so it can be a great way to build your social circle this winter.

Play Weeknight Dodgeball

Throw it back to high school gym class and register for a dodgeball league. We like this option because it’s an active co-ed sport that is easy to play even if you’ve been off the dodgeball court for years. Hive Athletic runs this program and offers three league options — casual, intermediate, and competitive.

Take a Dance Class at The Studio

the studio

One of the best ways to shake up your fitness routine is to sign up for a dance class. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced dancer, you can find a class at The Studio for your skill level. This adults-only studio has a calendar filled with jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, and other dance classes. Couples can even sign up for wedding dance classes to stay active and practice for their big day.
