St. Peter’s is a Jesuit University in the heart of Jersey City. While many in Hudson County are familiar with this school and its academic offerings, basketball fans across the country are rushing to learn more. The 30-acre campus is located at 2641 John F. Kennedy Boulevard and enrollment is about 3,000 students. The diverse student body consists of majority local and New Jersey students, but the other percentage comes from 32 states across the United States and over 60 countries. In light of the University’s recent national press involving the men’s basketball team’s success in the 2022 NCAA March Madness Tournament, The Hoboken Girl put together a guide to St. Peter’s and all it has to offer. Undergraduate Majors

St. Peter’s offers over 60 undergraduate and adult undergraduate degree programs in a wide variety of subjects. Students can pick from 68 majors, 70 minors, several concentrations, and specializations, along with options for accelerated and 5-year dual degree programs. The University also has the option for an Associate’s degree in business, humanities, marketing management, public policy, radiography, and social sciences. As for undergraduate Bachelor’s degree major choices, some of the options are:

AXIS School of Dance

Graduate Programs

St. Peter’s offers graduate degree programs in 10 different subjects, each with a variety of concentrations to pick from. In addition to these, the University also has pre-professional health-related combined degree programs offered in conjunction with Rutgers University. The pre-professional programs are structured so students spend three years at St. Peter’s, and three or four years at Rutgers University. This program is for graduate physical therapy or pharmacy degrees. The graduate program general choices are as follows:

Sports

As a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), the University has 17 Division I NCAA varsity sports teams as well as a co-ed cheerleading team that is not connected to the conference. Most recently, the men’s basketball team made history in the 2022 NCAA March Madness Tournament, in which the Peacocks have advanced to the Sweet 16. There are nine sports for both men and women, and they are as follows:

  • Baseball (men’s)
  • Basketball (men’s + women’s)
  • Bowling (women’s)
  • Cross country (men’s + women’s)
  • Golf (men’s + women’s)
  • Indoor/outdoor track (men’s + women’s)
  • Soccer (men’s + women’s)

  • Tennis (men’s)
  • Volleyball (women’s)

In addition to sports teams, St. Peter’s also offers a variety of intramural sports programs, as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, free-weight room, racquetball, squash, and three regulation basketball courts. Clubs, Organizations, + Activities

There are over 130 clubs and organizations to participate in on-campus, including Greek life, student government, academic honor societies, performing arts, media, diversity and inclusion, and more.

The university also has its own student newspaper, radio station, and literary magazine, all student-run. Of the 138 organizations, more than 50 are run by students, including the Computer Science Club, Hooks and Knits, Italian Club, PRIDE, and more.
