Best Spots for a Night of Dancing in Hoboken + Jersey City

Written by:

Sometimes, you just want to dance {a la Dane Cook}— and luckily, Hoboken + Jersey City have many fun spots where you can do just that. Aside from the amazing restaurant scene, the quaint boutiques, and the stunning views, Hoboken + Jersey City actually offer some of the best nightlife on this side of the Hudson River. So, get your dancing shoes and get ready to dance all the way from HOB to JC {or vise versa} because we’ve pulled together the best local spots for a night out of fun, drinks, and dancing. And we promise not to judge if a fist pump just happens to occur — this is Jersey after all.

Hoboken Bars

Birch {92 River Street, Hoboken}

Stop at Birch any day of the week for a killer milkshake — okay and their nightlife scene doesn’t disappoint, either. Located in the midst of the downtown Hoboken bar-scene, Birch never lacks a huge crowd, proving it is definitely the dancing spot of choice for many. This is more of a club vibe on the weekends, so definitely dress to impress.

Cadillac Cantina {80 River Street, Hoboken}

Almost guaranteed to have a line wrapped around the corner, Cadillac brings in a lot of out of towners since it’s literally right across the street from the PATH station. But trust us, once you get inside, the line will totally be worth the wait. They play all the top music with three large areas for dancing {and three different bars — yes, THREE}. Another perk? They’re only one block away from Basile’s Pizza – which is must stop following a long night of dancing.

HUB Hoboken {16 Hudson Place, Hoboken}

A newcomer to the downtown scene, HUB Hoboken is located in TEAK’s old location, and offers a variety of bar food {and TONS of TVs}, as well as a serious party vibe on weekends. It’s definitely more of a club vibe, and they usually have a guest list or you can get tickets on their website to any events they’re hosting.

Madison Bar & Grill {1316 Washington Street, Hoboken}

One of uptown Hoboken’s best spots for dancing, Madison’s DJ plays all types of music to keep you going through the nighg —3 AM to be exact. From oldies, to pop, hip hop to Latin music and everything in between, they keep you on your feet {literally and figuratively}. One minute will be some classic Spice Girls, then Cardi B, and end the night off with a little Shout {always a fan favorite}. Best part? There’s almost NEVER a line.

McSwiggan’s {110 1st Street, Hoboken}

If you like great music, a photo booth and the biggest drinks in Hoboken, then McSwiggan’s is about to become your home away from home. Notorious for having great dance music {untz untz to the max}, they offer up some of the biggest drinks in Hoboken. To get ready for the weekend, start early on Friday with their #CocktailsNCures at 7:00 PM. This includes happy hour drinks and FREE manicures {yes, you read that right — a free mani while you sip on your cocktail}.

Tally Ho {215 Washington Street, Hoboken}

Imagine this: great music, a frat house, and a smoke machine {yes, a smoke machine}. This downtown hot spot is guaranteed to have you dancing ALL night long. If that’s your vibe, you’ll definitely be wanting to check out this downtown Hoboken spot. You can also start the weekend early with half off drinks every Thursday night.

The Shannon {106 1st Street, Hoboken}

Don’t let the “Irish sports bar” description fool you; The Shannon on a Friday or Saturday night is definitely a dance party in the back room. This spot is popular among college students and 20-somethings, and they definitely know how to have a good time.

Turtle Club {936 Park Avenue, Hoboken}

Turtle Club offers the best of both worlds. Perfect for dancing the night away, yet sophisticated enough to take a quick break, sip a drink and find out who your BFF is dancing with. With two rooms and two full bars {and a coat check}, Turtle Club is a go-to dancing spot after 10PM.

Union Hall {306 Sinatra Drive, Hoboken}

It depends on the DJ and day, but Union Hall has had many a Friday night dance party that is quite the good time. Their cocktail selection is stellar, so you won’t just be drinking vodka sodas all night.

Jersey City Bars

Talde {8 Erie Street, Jersey City}

This Asian fusion restaurant by day turns into one of Jersey City’s best dancing scenes by night. This spot always has great music and enough room to bust out alllllll your moves. Head over on Fridays and Saturdays as those are their only late nights. They also have Miss Wong’s below, which is a speakeasy-style bar that can be fun for a unique ambiance.

Porta {135 Newark Ave, Jersey City}

With two other locations in Asbury Park and Philly, Porta’s DJs keep crowds dancing from the Hudson River all the way to the Jersey Shore and over to the city of brotherly love… and in style, of course. Hands down some of the best dancing in the area, the DJs play the top songs and the bartenders are pour up some of the best drinks… because who couldn’t use a little liquid courage on the dance-floor?!

These are just a few of the spots Hoboken Girl team members have frequented recently and spots we’ve danced the night away. Of course, anywhere that has a DJ and some dranksss will be fun — if you’re with the right crew.
