15th + Garden Streets in Hoboken to Close for 4 Months Starting 7/7
Since mid-April, portions of Jersey Avenue have undergone intermittent closures as part of an ongoing project called Rebuild by Design Hudson River (RBDH), which aims to install a sliding floodgate designed to mitigate the impacts of storm surge events in areas of Hoboken, Jersey City, and Weehawken. Now, the Resist contract is preparing to roll out its next phase of construction, which will close parts of 15th and Garden Streets in Hoboken to vehicular through-traffic starting July 7th, 2025. Dead Body Found on Washington Street in Hoboken
Hoboken Police responded to the intersection of Washington Street and Observer Highway on July 1st, around 10:30PM after callers reported an unconscious male. A HPD spokesperson shared the following information with The Hoboken Girl: “Hoboken EMS/Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived on the scene to provide aid, but unfortunately, the individual was pronounced deceased on the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed the deceased individual suffered a narcotic overdose. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hoboken Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 201-420-2400.”
Orale Mexican Kitchen Announces Closure of Hoboken Location
Orale Mexican Kitchen has exclusively shared with The Hoboken Girl that its Hoboken location at 1426 Willow Avenue is now closed, leaving space for another business to take its place. The Mexican restaurant has other locations in Jersey City and Morristown. Click here for more.
Forum Coffee’s 2nd Hoboken Location Opens Uptown

Forum Coffee opened in March 2025 downtown after Pour Amour closed its 123 Washington Street location. Two months later, Forum announced its plans to open in uptown Hoboken in the former Juice Press location inside SoulCycle at the corner of 14th and Washington. Per an Instagram post from the team, Forum Coffee’s second Hoboken location is now open on Washington Street as of Wednesday, July 2nd. Click here for more.
New Residential Building, Verde, Debuts in Jersey City’s West Side

Verde Jersey City is now leasing and introduces 155 newly constructed residences and ground-floor retail across two addresses – 873 Communipaw Ave (Verde West) and 857 Communipaw Ave (Verde East) – in the city’s West Side. Verde is the latest development from Romema Capital. The Home Edition at Compass, led by Danoly Mathelier and Jason Tonge, partnered with Romema Capital to connect residents with homes that are both elevated and attainable. The development is conveniently located near the West Side Avenue Light Rail, which links directly to Exchange Place, Hoboken, with PATH trains to Manhattan. Route 440, I-78, and the Pulaski Skyway are minutes away, with bus service along Communipaw Avenue.
THE DRIP to open Uptown Hoboken Location

Hoboken-based fitness studio THE DRIP will open a second location in uptown Hoboken in late summer 2025. According to a source close to the project, the space will be located at 1427 Grand Street and have three rooms (infrared heated mat studio, reform studio and cycle studio) and all formats: BURN, CYCLE, DRIIP, FLOW and REFORM. THE DRIP has other locations in Caldwell, New Jersey, and Melbourne, Florida.
Five People Shot at Block Party in Jersey City
On June 29th, Jersey City police officers responded to calls for a disorderly crowd and double-parked cars in the area of Ocean Avenue and Wegman Parkway, according to city spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione. The officers heard several shots fired and immediately responded to the area of Bidwell and Ocean Avenues, where they observed one victim lying in the street. Other responding officers located three additional victims in the immediate area and rendered aid. The victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries with either wounds to their extremities or graze wounds. Wallace-Scalcione also noted that it appears the incidents occurred when several hundred people were attending an unauthorized block party on Bidwell. The investigation is ongoing.

La Festa Italiana to Return to Jersey City 8/13-8/17

She started a business called The Corr Collective, which puts on pop-up thrifting events. The events are called Nice Rack and the whole premise is to make the closet clean-out process fun and build community at the same time. Jersey City Food Truck Ranks in US Top 100

Jersey City-based sushi truck Wisp Express just made a list of the top 100 best-rated food trucks in the country, as ranked by customers on Yelp. Wisp Express came in 75th out of the top 100. The chefs park in locations around the city and offer dozens of colorful dishes, including specialty rolls, poke bowls, and salads. No other New Jersey food trucks made the list.
Updates on Story Dispensary Space in Hoboken
Story Dispensary, slated to open in the former Hudson Tavern space, located on the ground floor of the condo building at 51–53 14th Street in Hoboken, has been in development for the past three years. In recent weeks, Hoboken residents have walked past the soon-to-be dispensary and seen activity going on in the space, including lights on in the building. Click here for more.
Construction Begins on Hudson Place + Warrington Plaza in Hoboken
A project called Hoboken Connect will preserve the historically significant architectural elements of the Hoboken Terminal while upgrading the space to have more resources for the community, like performing arts, shops, and restaurants. The terminal’s multimodal transit options will be enhanced, and several buildings around the terminal will undergo renovation as well. PATH to Suspend Weekend Service Between Harrison and
Journal Square for Upgrades
PATH service between Harrison and Journal Square stations will be suspended over six weekends in September and October 2025 to allow for the demolition of a Conrail freight rail bridge. Per the Jersey City Times, free shuttle buses will be provided between Harrison, Journal Square, and Newark-Penn Station during the outages. Updated system schedules will be released in early 2026 following completion of the major construction phase.
Jersey City Cannabis Tax Revenues to Fund Summer Youth Programs
65 Jersey City nonprofit organizations will be awarded a total of nearly $500,000 in grants to support summer youth enrichment programs, Mayor Steven Fulop announced in a press release. The funding, up to $10,000 each, was generated by the city’s legal cannabis businesses and will be distributed through the Partnership for Healthier JC. The summer program opportunities span the arts, STEM, STEAM, leadership training, sports, and essential life skills development.
New Farm-to-Table Restaurant Opens in Jersey City

Jersey City Approves 321-Unit Development with Affordable Housing
A vacant warehouse and the surrounding lots along trackage for the PATH train could soon be transformed into a new residential complex that includes significant public space. Per Jersey Digs, Jersey City’s Planning Board unanimously approved an application for 166 Van Wagenen Avenue on June 24th. The project includes a 10% affordable housing component and will create 32 units for lower-income households. A groundbreaking date for the project has not been announced.

Stevens University in Hoboken Launches New Tennis Clinic for Kids

Stevens University in Hoboken recently launched Hoboken Aces, a new tennis clinic for kids ages 4–14. The sessions take place every Sunday until August 17th. There are 10 available spots per class, with a maximum of 5 kids per court. Each class is 1 hour long and led by lead coaches, Coach Arik Zeevy and Coach Tory Zawacki Roy.
Construction Notice Spotted at 1108 Washington Street in Hoboken
A construction notice was spotted at 1108 Washington Street in Hoboken. The space is between Right Angle Framing and Alfalfa. The description of work on the notice reads, “Interior renovation to the existing commercial space as a gym, as per plan.” We will provide updates as they become available.
Hudson Regional Hospital Rebrands All Four of Its Facilities
Hudson Regional Hospital (HRH) has announced the rebrand of all four of its hospitals, eight months after they reached a deal to run CarePoint Health’s three facilities. Per the Hudson County View, HRH now officially includes the Secaucus University Hospital (formerly HRH), Bayonne University Hospital (formerly Bayonne Medical Center), the Hoboken University Hospital (formerly Hoboken University Medical Center), and The Heights University (formerly Christ Hospital).
Hoboken Business Alliance Announces Event Grant Program
The Hoboken Business Alliance announced the second round of its Event Grant Program to support new and existing events in Hoboken. This program helps fund larger efforts that encourage Hoboken visitors and residents to come together while supporting local businesses. Per a press release, last year, the program provided nearly $67,000 in funding to local events. Interested applicants can apply here for events happening until June 30, 2026.
The Waiting Room in Hoboken to Host Reality TV Show Nights

Starting on July 8th, The Waiting Room in Hoboken will be showing reality TV shows, Love Island US, Real Housewives of Miami, and Big Brother on its screens. The concept comes from the local book club For the Girls & Co. The founder, Olivia Schueller, found there was a need for a place to hang out and watch reality TV shows in Hoboken.

Jersey City Installs 12 New Bus Shelters
The Jersey City Department of Infrastructure has installed 12 new bus shelters. Per TAPinto Jersey City, the locations were selected based on a detailed priority analysis of ridership, need for public transit, and space availability, ensuring that they were placed where need is the greatest. The bus shelter program is provided in partnership with AR James at no cost to the city, with the total number of shelters installed through the program increasing to 54.
Two Pizzerias in New Jersey Rank Among Top 50 in America
50 Top Pizza, an Italian website with an annual pizza ranking, has mentioned not one, but two Garden State pizzerias on their 2025 best pizzeria in the country list. Razza Pizza Artigianale in Jersey City ranked at number 12, while Bricco Coal Fired Pizza in Haddon Township and Cherry Hill ranked at number 28.
Hoboken To Award $1M in Community Development Block Grants
Mayor Ravi Bhalla and the City of Hoboken announced the anticipated allocation of over $1 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to support a range of local nonprofit organizations as well as critical infrastructure improvements at the Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA). Per a City of Hoboken press release, the largest allocation, totaling approximately $685,000, will go to the Hoboken Housing Authority for two essential capital improvement projects: the replacement of aging boilers and to enhance security infrastructure across HHA’s buildings for senior and disabled residents including Fox Hill Gardens, Monroe Gardens, and Adams Gardens.
