Clothing retailer Athleta is closing its doors at 316 Washington Street. The store opened in fall 2014 and has been a local go-to for women’s and girls’ activewear, outerwear, and accessories. Read on for what we know about Athleta’s upcoming closure in Hoboken, NJ.
The Details
Athleta is a part of the Gap, Inc. family of companies, which also includes Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic. The Athleta brand was founded in 1998 and was acquired by Gap, Inc. in 2008. Its first retail store opened in 2011. The brand is known for its colorful, size-inclusive activewear; a designated line of clothing for girls and pre-teens; and its ‘Power of She’ campaign, which features legendary female athletes.

The Hoboken location of Athleta opened in fall 2014. A store associate confirmed that the location’s last day would be July 24th, 2025. The store is currently holding a 30% off sale on linens and dresses. Elsewhere in New Jersey, the Morristown Athleta location closed earlier this year.
