Harvy’s, a new ice cream and coffee shop has opened in Jersey City, bringing, one-of-a-kind handcrafted flavors that satisfy one’s sweet tooth. The cafe is a destination for other goodies such as the finest tea leaves, hot breakfast items, and specialty shakes and sundaes. Apart from Harvy’s convenient location at 175 Morgan Street in Jersey City, it opens its doors early in the morning and remains in operation until late in the evening. Read on to learn more about Harvy’s in Jersey City.

Opening in Downtown

Harvy’s owner, Harvy Singh, has had quite the success the past few years ever since embarking on the food business six years ago. The concept to “seamlessly fuse the venerable traditions of Indian tea culture with the sheer delight of handcrafted, artisanal ice cream creations” was conceived in 2021. Harvy opened his first location called Happy Dayz in Edison, New Jersey that same year. After that, its second location opened in Iselin.

This year, Harvy’s Ice Cream and Tea Shop was created and the first location opened in Colonia. Now, Harvy’s fourth shop officially opened in Jersey City in October right next to the hotel Canopy by Hilton.

When asked what sets Harvy’s apart from the other ice cream and coffee shops in Jersey City, he shared, “We make everything ourselves. We’re a complete sweet shop. If somebody comes for something specific, they should be able to find it.” He also said that the fusion concept sets it apart because they have a mix of American, Indian, and Asian offerings.

About The Menu

Upon entering the shop, customers will be graced with a wide selection of ice creams that are freshly made in the Colonia location. “Ice cream is our number one [top seller] for sure because nobody has this kind of ice cream,” Harvy said. The 50 flavors include some sugar-free, dairy-free, and vegan options.

Some of the top flavors include Ferrero Rocher, butterscotch, and Punjabi. Other unique flavors include rose, pumpkin, strawberry cheesecake, lychee, and Anjeer (figs). Customers can get the ice cream in a cup, cone, bowl, in a bubble waffle, or on top of a warm brownie or lava cake. Harvy also makes ice cream rolls and has ice cream cakes available to purchase or to order in advance for a special occasion.

The second widest selection the store offers is its teas, which come straight from the biggest tea production city in India. Harvy shared, “We have fruit green teas, we have herbal tea, healthy tea, then organic teas, other gourmet teas. These all are fresh leaf based.” Furthermore, there are bubble milk teas, fruit green teas, bubble slushes, and Indian fusion bubble teas.

In addition to tea, customers can get coffee made however they like. There are iced drinks, hot, frappes, and lattes – all of which come in different flavors such as pistachio latte, mocha cookie crumble frappe, and caramel macchiato. Customers can also choose from a variety of shakes: chocolate flavored, natural fruit, Indian special milkshakes, or protein shakes.

Apart from the drink selection, there are breakfast items, such as egg sandwiches, bagels, spinach pies, croissants, muffins, cookies, macarons and scones.

Check It Out

Harvy’s is open Monday to Thursday from 7AM to 10PM and Friday to Sunday from 7AM to 11PM. Customers can also order online and pick it up or get it delivered. Harvy’s has ample seating for friends to meet up or for one to sit down and relax and/or get some work done on a laptop.

“We want people to know that we give the best service and have the best quality,” Harvy told HG. “Come and try our ice cream. We believe we have the best taste.”

Starting next month, Harvy’s will offer a subscription service. More details will be announced soon. Down the road, Harvy is looking forward to offering seating outside of the shop in the warmer months, especially now that they have been approved for outdoor dining. And, there might be another location next year. Harvy told HG that he’s working on expanding in Jersey City. For more information, visit the website.
