Iconic Jersey City bar the Iron Monkey has announced its closure. The bar, located at 99 Greene Street in the Exchange Place neighborhood of Jersey City, is known for its extensive beer list, rooftop bar, and weekend brunch. What We Know
In an Instagram post on December 6th, the bar posted the following message to patrons and supporters:
“Dear Valued Patrons, Community and Friends,
After nearly three wonderful decades in business, it is with mixed emotions that we announce the closure of the Iron Monkey Bar + Restaurant. Over the years, we have had the honor of hosting numerous celebrations and building lasting friendships. We express our deepest gratitude for allowing us the privilege of serving you and being a part of this wonderful community.

While we are uncertain about what the future holds, we take pride in the legacy of Iron Monkey that we have built together.
Our final service will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2023. Until then, we will continue to welcome you from Tuesday to Sunday, with Mondays being our designated day of closure. Please join us in these remaining weeks and we strive to conclude this chapter on a high note.
Thank you once again for being an integral part of the Iron Monkey Bar & Restaurant family. Your patronage has meant the world to us, and we will cherish the memories created within these walls.
We hope to see many familiar faces in the coming weeks as we bid a fond farewell.

The Iron Monkey opened in 1995 at the corner of Greene and York Streets in the Exchange Place neighborhood of Jersey City. The bar has four stories, including both a rooftop bar and outdoor dining at the street level. The bar prided itself on its extensive craft beer selection. On its website, the bar describes itself as a not-your-average beer bar. “We are NOT your local fine dining establishment. We are NOT your local dive. We are NOT your local chain sports bar.
