The weather is getting colder and residents who are looking for something fun – and indoor  – to do know that our local bars have so much to offer. After a summer of vacations and a few years of restrictions, Hoboken bar owners are ready to once again welcome the regular after-work and weekend crowds in full force. What better way than by hosting themed nights and friendly competitions, with exciting prizes and drink deals, too. Read on to find a list of venues in Hoboken with specials on different designated days of the week for game nights, live music, brunch options, and more.

Club Pilates 2023

Welcoming all “Party Animals” that #DaretoBear seven days a week, Black Bear is located on Washington Street just a few minutes walk away from Pier A and the PATH train station — a perfect spot to meet NYC friends who don’t want to venture too far into Hoboken. The bar hosts weekly Wednesday Trivia Night hosted by Trivia, AD. Weekly themes rotate among General Knowledge and pop culture such as Schitt’s Creek, Golden Girls, Friends, and more. Regardless of the topic, first-place winners always leave with a Black Bear gift card.

Popular for a large indoor restaurant, bar, and lounge area along with gorgeous rooftop views, City Bistro has a regular DJ playing music every Friday and Saturday night 9PM to close. 

Finnegans Pub | 734 Willow Avenue

At Finnegan’s, patrons can find live music every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.  Other well-known features of this Irish bar located on Willow between 7th and 8th include 15 beers regularly on tap, White Claw and High Noon stocked up for the warm weather, and an outdoor seating area with two outside TVs

The perfect spot to meet your friends from both New York City and the suburbs of New Jersey, Green Rock is home to weekday happy hours each night of the week from 5-8PM featuring $1 beers, and weekly trivia every Tuesday night hosted by Trivia, AD.

Halifax | 225 River Street

Halifax is proud to present affordable and delicious dining specials on various days of the week. Every Monday stop by all day for $1.50 each on local oysters.  The weekend afternoons are designated for brunch with a $46 special to try unlimited small plates and receive one bottle of sparkling wine per person, $32 for food only without the bottle. Happy hour is Monday through Friday with discounted beer, wine, and select cocktails. 

House of Que | 340 Sinatra Drive

This Southern BBQ themed bar located just steps away from the waterfront stays true to its origins through music. House of Que has a country DJ every Friday night, customer song requests always welcomed, and a country-themed brunch with live music on Saturdays from 11AM-4PM featuring a separate menu with mimosa special available for the first two hours. Updates on this “Boot Kickin Brunch” can always be found on the restaurant’s Instagram page. House of Que is also known for its popular Thursday night Trivia, Saturday night dueling pianos and Karaoke on Wednesdays.

Madd Hatter | 221 Washington Street

Madd Hatter is one of the most lively spots in the Mile Square, and is known for bringing the party any night of the week. Taco Tuesdays feature an authentic Mexican menu accompanied by Mexican theme drinks and decor, along with live entertainment and Bingo. Enjoy half-off fishbowls all night and half-off apps until 7PM on Wednesdays. You can also find a live DJ all weekend, along with a variety of drink specials and brunch options. McSwiggans | 110 1st Street

Home of the Phoenix Bomb, Patriots, and Michigan alumni, McSwiggans is packed nearly every day of the week, especially Tuesdays when the bar hosts a regular trivia game at 7:30PM. Prizes are always given out throughout the night, and the staff encourages guests to arrive early as tables inside pack up quickly. Wednesday nights are Bite Nights, with unlimited boneless chicken bites for $7.99. Happy hour is from Monday – Thursday and ends at 10PM. 

Pig + Parrot | 77 Hudson Street

This Key West-inspired bar is known for its “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” approach to life. On Thursdays and Saturdays, patrons can join a regular Bingo game. Fridays and Saturdays get started early with a $3 drink special, Uncle Mike’s Happy Hour, from 9PM-10:30PM. Resident DJ Nicky Curzio can usually be found playing top hits and hyping up the crowd. Some recent prizes have included any Pig + Parrot-themed apparel you could possibly imagine, seasonal merchandise, backpack coolers, and the bar often ends the night with a raffle for a larger giveaway. Mondays have live music and Uncle Mike’s $3 Happy Hour. Tuesdays and Wednesdays have $5 Patron shots, $8 Patron margaritas, $3 Coors Light Drafts, and $25 White Claw Buckets. 

Pilsener Haus Biergarten | 1422 Grand Street

Pilsener hosts all types of events throughout the year, including weekly theme nights like Foodie Fridays which shines a spotlight on local foodies by giving them a platform to showcase their favorite items from the menu as well as host events supporting local charities. Monday nights are industry nights, with 15% off for restaurant industry peers. Tuesday night is trivia hosted by Quizzoholics. On Wednesdays, Pilsener’s sister bar Kolo Klub hosts a comedy night. Pilsener also hosts art shows, happy hours, and more.

The Ale House | 1034 Willow Avenue

This Uptown neighborhood bar provides regular indoor and outdoor back patio seating and attracts a large crowd every Wednesday night for their weekly trivia event. From Monday- Thursday from 5PM-7PM there are 2-for-1 draft and bottle specials. On Saturday and Sunday until 10PM, there are $6-$8 Personal Pitcher Specials. Fun fact: this bar also is known for having pool, shuffleboard, and darts available indoors for all customers looking to get competitive while enjoying a beverage any night of the week.

While The Madison Bar + Grill does not currently offer any theme or game nights throughout the week, you can stop by for a live DJ every Friday and Saturday night starting around 6PM and going all night through 2AM.

Every Wednesday at 8PM this Uptown hotspot holds a four-round trivia competition put on by Joe Trivia, a company known for its popular game nights at various locations throughout New Jersey. On Friday nights patrons can catch live music from 8PM onwards, and the Shepherd also has regular weekend brunch from 12PM-3PM every Saturday and Sunday with entree specials, mimosa buckets, and more. On Saturday night, a live DJ kicks off the night at 10PM.

The Stewed Cow is popular for its country roots and live music every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. The Stewed Cow has other crowd-pleasing specials throughout the week. Come by for a traditional Taco Tuesday complete with $3/4/5 tacos and $5 margs, or cheer up those mid-week blues with a Wednesday dedicated to wings, whiskey, and wine, all special pickings for just $5.  Weekend brunch is always packed every Saturday + Sunday 11:30-3PM with a $25 prix fixe package including an entree, two brunch drinks, and a starter for the table. There is live music or a DJ every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the Stewed Cow often has specials for football games or other special events. Wicked Wolf | 120 Sinatra Drive

This waterside sports bar is helping customers break up the work week with new daily specials. Stop by on Monday for Industry Night. Show your bar card and get discounted beer, seltzers, and shots all night. Tuesday is Taco Tuesday featuring $1 tacos and $5 margs, and Wine Wednesdays from 5PM through close with an option to purchase $3 glasses of wine or a $60 two entrees and bottle of wine special. Of course, patrons can still also book a weekend brunch party and always participate in the Wolf’s famous #SundayFunday. 

Willie McBrides | 616 Grand Street

Willie McBrides currently hosts trivia night every Wednesday evening, $4 mimosas during weekend brunch, and every Saturday night you can catch a live band performing. Happy hour is Monday through Thursday from 4PM – 7PM with specials on beer, wine, and select cocktails.  Thursday nights offer a special of a $6 liter of Willie’s House Lager. Taco Tuesdays have specials on tacos, of course, and discounted Corona, Modelo, and margaritas. Football games bring specials on food and drinks. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, Pink Whitney shots are $5. A special 5/$25 bucket of White Claws is available every day except Fridays and Saturdays. Another feature this bar provides is a limo serve that runs every Friday and Saturday picking up locals free of charge if you call 201-681-7550 after 9PM to arrange for a pickup. The staff encourages you to check out this special offering, along with their large back room if you are looking to host a private event.
