In 2019, 80 River Street in Hoboken took on its address as its formal name, with the owners of the former locale, Cadillac Cantina, opening 80 River Bar + Kitchen in its place. Since then, 80 River has transformed into something of a fixture for Hoboken nightlife, adding weekly live music performances to its roster of entertainment options. Now, 80 River is undergoing another identity change, this time getting a “new face, new name, new vibe.” In 80 River’s place comes River Street Garage, an industrial-inspired bar meant to feel like a vintage auto garage. The Details
On August 23rd, 80 River took to Instagram to share a cryptic (but exciting) message, which read: “New Face | New Name | New Vibe.” Underneath the declarative were the letters “RSG,” signaling that 80 River would be taking a new shape. The Hoboken bar also deleted any prior content on its Instagram.

The 80 River team confirmed with The Hoboken Girl that 80 River is in fact rebranding — and that “RSG” stands for River Street Garage. Though the team operating the business will stay the same (the team also behind 80 River’s neighbor, Texas Arizona), most of the bar will not, transforming into a vintage auto body shop dotted with neon signs, car memorabilia, and “industrial chic decor.”

The goal for the rebrand, according to the team, is to create an “an immersive experience that celebrates the art of relaxation.” The team also shared that in addition to aesthetic changes, River Street Garage will also be rolling out a new food and drink menu. Right now, the menu isn’t finalized, but it’s worth noting that 80 River previously had a selection of appetizers featuring classic bar options like chicken tenders, mini cheeseburgers, and wings.
Pat Light, owner of River Street Garage, shared with The Hoboken Girl: “Music has always been a huge part of Hoboken’s storied history and our vision for River Street Garage was to combine the raw energy of live bands with the vibrancy of downtown.” He went on to share that “garages have long been the backdrop for countless memories and conversations among friends and we invite our customers to join us for some good music, good vibes and good times.”

River Street Garage will continue 80 River’s live music series, with cover bands performing at the bar every weekend, starting Friday, September 8th — the day that 80 River officially becomes River Street Garage. According to the team, River Street Garage (and formally 80 River) is “Hoboken’s only downtown venue with” live music.
