ACME is a huge, standard supermarket that covers everything from produce to meat. The downtown Jersey City location is in the Newport area. It’s close to Target but can be tricky for Jersey City shoppers who prefer to run errands on foot. On the plus side, this ACME has a pharmacy and an app for deals and coupons.

Central Square Supermarket | 885 Bergen Avenue

This grocery store in Journal Square has a huge selection of organic produce, dry goods, and frozen items. There’s also an on-site deli and some parking spots.

Hudson Greene Market | 77 Hudson Street

Hudson Greene Market is a gourmet grocery store in the Hudson Greene apartment building. The shop opened in 2010 and provides healthy, fresh options like organic fruits and vegetables and snacks. Patrons can also order online or in-store from the cafe menu which has sandwiches, sushi, salads, bagels, and breakfast items. There’s also a hot buffet with a rotating menu.

Key Food Fresh + Natural | 574 Jersey Avenue

Key Food is a community supermarket that provides home delivery. Organic and vegan options are available plus there’s a deli along with international, meat and seafood, pet, and personal care departments.

Lee’s Continental Fruit + Vegetables | 309 Grove Street

This market is a short walk from the Grove Street Station and stays open until 9PM every night if commuters need to pick something up after work. The shelves are filled with fresh produce, baking supplies, and canned goods.

Lenox Market | 207 Van Vorst Street

Lenox Market is next to Pure Barre in retail space attached to the Lenox Apartment building. The store is stocked with pantry staples, ice cream, cheese, loaves of bread, and a limited selection of produce.

P + K Fruit Market is another great option on Newark Avenue that is known for its high-quality produce and flower bouquets. It is open every day from 8AM-8PM.

There are plans to redevelop the Marin Boulevard ShopRite, but the current location is expected to stay open during the entire process. The produce selection at the Jersey City ShopRite can be hit or miss but it’s a huge supermarket where shoppers can stock up on everything.

Sprove is just steps away from the Grove Street Station and is one of the most well-stocked grocery stores in downtown Jersey City. There’s a big produce section and aisles filled with international pantry staples. There’s a sushi counter, a small floral department, and an attached liquor store.

Stop + Shop | 232 Central Avenue

The supermarket chain Stop + Shop has a location in The Heights. Drivers might be able to snag one of the store’s free parking shops. Delivery and pickup options are also available to make grocery shopping here even more convenient.

Supremo Food Markets | 323 Palisade Avenue

Supremo Food Markets is another large grocery store option in The Heights that also has a parking lot. The supermarket is stocked with fresh produce, seafood, and dry goods. The website has recipes if shoppers need inspiration when creating a grocery list.

In addition to the excellent butcher counter, Darke Pines sells deli sandwiches Wednesdays – Saturdays using local smoked, roasted, or braised meats.

Scale Fish Market | 45 Coles Street

Scale Fish Market brings fresh seafood to a few of Jersey City’s farmers markets, but there’s also a brick-and-mortar location so shoppers can get their seafood fix throughout the week. In addition to picking up some fresh fish for dinner, the on-site kitchen has a raw bar menu plus a selection of sandwiches, lobster rolls, and daily specials.

Coles Street Market | Coles Street (between 16th + 18th Streets)

This new farmer and artisan market is set to debut at Coles Street Park in Jersey City this April. A few of the vendors participating so far include Nute Juicery, Norwich Meadows Farm, Emily’s Hearth, Scale Fish Market, Ash Hopper, and Settantatre Pasta.

Hamilton Park Farmers’ Market | 344 Grove Street

A quick walk from the PATH, bus stop, and Light Rail, the Hamilton Park Farmers Market has a mix of vendors ranging from local farms and restaurants to fitness vendors from time to time.
