The Best Spots for Chili in Hoboken, Jersey City + Bayonne

When the weather gets colder, there’s nothing quite like steaming hot bevvies {possibly spiked with a little alcohol} and foods to make your belly warm and happy this holiday season. A well-made chili is always top on our list, so we have rounded up some of the best places to get a delicious bowl of this winter staple {plus some places that incorporate chili into other dishes} in Hoboken, Jersey City, and Bayonne.

Hoboken

Arthur’s Tavern {237 Washington Street}

Besides the amazing steaks and burgers, Arthur’s makes a mouth-watering bowl of chili topped with mounds of cheddar cheese and the perfect amount of scallions, just enough to leave you feeling full and satisfied. There’s only one rule team HG has when it comes to ordering this chili — you *must* get Arthur’s famous garlic bread along with it. 

Biggie’s {36-42 Newark Street}

With locations all over NJ, Biggie’s has plenty of fresh seafood as well as their own brand of turkey chili {so you can feel a little bit healthy about eating it} made with kidney beans, tomatoes, peppers & onions — topped with cheddar cheese, of course.

Black Bear Bar & Grill {205 Washington Street}

This is a great place to watch the game and indulge in some classic bar fare, including chili to complement the savory burgers or wings offered at this neighborhood favorite. You can even get chili over nachos — because it’s only right. 

Wicked Wolf {120 Sinatra Drive}

Perfect for weekly trivia nights and delicious sandwiches, wraps and apps, the chili here is topped with melted cheddar jack cheese and scallions, which will go perfectly with a beer tower if you’re feeling cray. Also on the menu is nachos topped with chili {pictured above} AND chili as an option to add to your burger — score. 

Tenth & Willow {935 Willow Avenue}

With burgers galore {and a grilled cheese sandwich on Texas Toast, just sayin’} + some choice options for breakfast, Tenth & Willow serves its chili with sour cream, chopped red onions and cheddar cheese and allows you to add chili to nachos.

Jersey City

The Hamilton Inn {708 Jersey Avenue}

Fun cocktails and enjoyable brunch make this spot a great place to dine, and the {locally} smoked brisket chili appetizer served with cheddar is no exception.

City Diner {31 Montgomery Street}

A choice spot to pop in for workday lunch, City Diner has its own version of chili, complete with slow cooked ground beef, black beans, onions and peppers, topped with cheddar jack cheese and scallions.

Beechwood Café {290 Grove Street + 18 Park View Avenue}

With 2 locations in Jersey City, this is a great place for local brunch and dinner eats, including homemade chili served with cheddar cheese, sour cream and Pico de gallo.

Left Bank Burger Bar {194 Newark Avenue}

In addition to the tempting burgers, check out the Butchers Chili at Left Bank, served with tortilla chips, cheddar and sour cream — or get the Chilltown Fries topped with chili, smoked bacon, cheese & jalapeno.

O’Hara’s Downtown {172 1^st Street}

This local neighborhood sports bar features appetizing tacos and burgers as well as beef chili and served with a side of tortilla chips {and topped with cheese, of course}.

Bayonne

Hendrickson’s Corner {671 Broadway}

This long-standing Bayonne staple features a variety of appetizing sandwiches, schnitzel, ½ pound burgers and so much more, including the tasty chili, perfectly chunky and served with the right amount of spices and cheese – just be careful, it’s filling!

Starting Point Bar & Grill {2 Avenue A}

This downtown bar is good for a drink and local fare {and sometimes live music events} including local burgers, tacos, bar pies, and hearty beef chili.
