Ordering Chinese takeout is usually a guilty-pleasure, but luckily for Hoboken residents, we’ve got a spot that makes it a not-so-guilty experience. Lo-Fatt-Chow {located at 720 Monroe Street} is exactly what their name is — low-fat Chinese food {aka with no MSG, added chemicals, and a variety of healthier options} — perfect for Chinese food delivery in Hoboken. Read on to see what we love about this local gem {+ of course, our go-to delivery orders}:

Lo-Fatt-Chow is located at the Monroe Center on 720 Monroe Street {it has an outside entrance that can easily be found}. The store is small and there is a super limited amount of seating, but that doesn’t bother us, because Chinese food is meant to be eaten in sweats on the couch and delivery is where it’s at with LFC.

Lo-Fatt-Chow located in the Monroe Center just steps away from the 9th street Light Rail station. Since their pickup time is so fast {15 minutes}, it’s the perfect spot to grab a meal after a workout or on your way home from work. They also have an entire fridge of drinks so you won’t have to make another stop when picking up your meal.

Menu

Lo-Fatt-Chow has all of your regular menu items, but made without MSG, essentially making the food a bit healthier than most spots. Whether you’re craving chicken and broccoli, dumplings, wonton soup, lomein, and even stirfry dishes — they’ve got it all.

Their menu has unique items, too, like wraps {yes, Chinese food wraps} that include Peking duck, stir-fried veggie, beef, chicken, or shrimp, and boneless ribs — all on your choice of wrap {plain, wheat, or spinach} and choice of rice or lomein.

Lo-Fatt-Chow also has a kid’s menu that includes chicken balls, pigs in a blanket, and other fun items that moms and little ones will appreciate.

Our suggestions: the orange chicken is one of the best in town and you can tell it’s made fresh with real ingredients. We were also V impressed with the dumplings and chicken and broccoli — always important menu items 😉 For a drool-worthy visual, check out what we ordered below:

^^ The spread: chicken + broccoli, chicken with mixed veggies {no sauce}, brown rice, + steamed veggie dumplings

^^ Close-up on the veggie dumplings because, duh.

{Editor’s note: These beauties were soft and fluffy, and reminiscent of the streets of Asia where the dumpling sitch is 🔥}

The Orange Peel Chicken = easily one of our fave items on the menu.

The menu also includes combos that come with your choice of rice, plus an add-on for 50 cents {soup, roll, or drink}. Lunch specials are offered from 11:00AM-3:00PM on weekdays for a discounted price. There are also many vegetarian options like tofu and many veggie dishes. LFC’s menu makes it clear that they do not use peanut oil or MSG as well as marks which items contain nuts, are vegetable specialties, or are extra spicy. Gluten-free sauce is also available upon request.

Delivery

Although their website states that delivery will take 30-60 minutes, we haven’t experienced that long of a wait. There’s always the option to pick-up, too, which Lo-Fatt-Chow notes will take 15 minutes. Delivery hours are from 4:30PM-10:00PM Monday-Friday and Saturday + Sunday from 12:00PM-10:00PM.

But seriously, Chinese food is meant to be eaten on the couch — so grab your phone and call {or order online} and enjoy some takeout with a side of reality TV. This sounds sponsored because we’re gushing, but honestly it’s NOT. We just love Lo Fatt Chow thaaat much.
