Since February is such a love-filled month (and one where we may be itching to get outdoors, eagerly awaiting spring), it’s a good time to plan a fun and romantic date night — or extended weekend — with your partner or pals. Local places are offering lots of Valentine’s Day specials, but we’ve rounded up some of the unique date spots and ideas in our area, in addition to a few other venues if you want to think outside the box this year. This Valentine’s Day, take a mini trip DTS and book a rooftop igloo at the Asbury Park Biergarten. Patrons can reserve a private Igloo for a cozy night, or get a ticket for the Valentine’s Day Grand Tasting on Saturday, February 12, which includes beer, wine, and spirits, including German Gluewine. VIP tickets are available to give access to tasting from rare casks.

This boutique private dining company uses seasonal, on-trend menus and Michelin star chefs to create food for anything from a large dining event at a venue to a charming dinner party for two right in your own home. To spice up the next date night, check out NYONAir’s private helicopter rides over the Hudson River. In addition to the usual array of photo tours, NYONAir will have a private, ‘doors-on’ helicopter tour for $599 – you and your boo will have the entire aircraft to yourselves (plus the pilot). This one-of-a-kind eatery in Edgewater is set up with several private dining “caves” carved into the wall, perfect for an intimate night out. Featuring casual dinner fares like quesadillas, French bread pizzas, and salad bowls, the major draw here is dessert, with a whole page of ice cream, cheesecake, and Ghirardelli brownie sundaes to choose from. This Jersey City dining experience is perfect for a cozy dinner party that will make you feel right at home – in someone else’s home, that is. Diners at 15 Fox Place will experience a variety of delicious Italian dishes in one of the many dining areas of the house, all prepared right in the home’s kitchen (a sample menu for dinner is sent out the week before you dine, and gluten-free is accommodated). Bring your appetite for a 15-20 course meal (you read that right) of small plates and entrees, and BYO the bev of your choice – just make sure you get your reservations in early as space is limited and spots do fill up fast.
