It’s finally starting to feel like cozy time here in North Jersey. There’s nothing better than enjoying a delicious meal or drink by the fire on a cold winter night and these North Jersey restaurants are embracing the change of seasons and have a spot for you by their fire. Read on to discover the coziest bars and restaurants in North Jersey with fireplaces.

Northern New Jersey

Amanda’s | 908 Washington Street A, Hoboken

This Argentinian-American eatery has been a staple in town for over 30 years. It’s located in a historic 19th-century brownstone and there’s a cozy fireplace in the library room. Some of the rooms can be rented out if you’re planning to host a holiday party. Brunch and dinner are often accompanied by live music, plus there’s even an early bird dinner special. We especially love the house-made Argentinian empanadas and the Belgian waffles topped with dulce de leche.

Carpe Diem | 1405 Grand Street, Hoboken

We love settling in for a drink at Carpe Diem, especially when we’re lucky enough to snag one of the fireside armchairs. It’s an Irish pub with some hearty dishes, like Shepard’s Pie and Mushroom Soup, to warm you up on cold winter nights. They make a great boozy hot chocolate for some additional cozy winter vibes.

This ivy-covered eatery features a leafy patio for warmer months, but step inside for a table in the cozy dining room. There are three fireplaces and the white-table cloths help make this a romantic date night spot. Pasta, pizza, and filet mignon are all on the menu. On the weekends, this restaurant offers its signature Bottomless Bubbly Brunch.

Lighthorse Tavern | 199 Washington Street, Jersey City

Lighthorse Tavern serves a classic American menu with cozy dishes like Red Wine Risotto and Pork Chop Marsala — perfect for winter nights. Guests can also enjoy fresh oysters straight from Fishers Island. During the summer, we love eating at one of their sidewalk tables, but during the colder months, the dining room is the place to be. The entire restaurant has a cozy ambiance, especially if you are lucky enough to snag a table by the fireplace.

The Rooftop at Exchange Place is one of the best places to watch the sunset over the Hudson. There’s a long outdoor fire pit on the rooftop with plenty of seating. And best of all, happy hour runs here every day from 4PM-6PM with discounts on some of the signature cocktails and snacks served here.

The Archer | 176 Newark Avenue, Jersey City

Hot mulled cider is on the menu at The Archer, which is just one of the many delicious drinks created at this excellent cocktail bar. There’s a full dinner menu including multiple dishes made with wild boar. It hosts live music on Wednesdays and Thursdays and there’s a fireplace to keep you cozy.

Willie McBrides | 616 Grand Street, Hoboken

While it may be known as a sports bar, Willie McBrides can be a cozy hangout when there isn’t a game on. When we asked for recommendations on our Hoboken Girl Insiders Facebook Page, a few of our readers said this has one of the best fireplaces in town. There are plenty of choices on the brunch and dinner menus whether you’re craving something hearty or light.

Zeppelin Hall | 88 Liberty View Drive, Jersey City

Zeppelin Hall serves brunch, dinner, and over 100 types of beer. There’s always something going on here, whether it’s live music or a football game. There’s a cozy fireplace in the dining room right when you walk inside plus, there are a few fire pits outside in the beer garden to keep you warm.

Honorable Mentions

Il Tavolo di Palmisano | 700 Clinton Street, Hoboken

Il Tavolo di Palmisano first opened its doors in 2020 by a local Hoboken resident — owner Frank Palmisano grew up in Hoboken right on 4th and Monroe Street. He is a former Hoboken Fire Battalion Chief and has over 45 years in the restaurant business. Il Tavolo is a classic Italian spot that serves up savory meals and signature cocktails. With the cooler weather settling in, the restaurant has an outdoor fire table to keep warm while dining at Il Tavolo.
