We know what you’re thinking — another acai shop? But yes, the battle of açai bowls continues, and even though they all consist of {mostly} the same ingredients, sometimes ya gotta rank em. In Jersey City, Sweetberry Bowls is the newest acai shop to hit downtown JC, so we recently visited its downtown Jersey City {179 Newark Avenue} location to get the scoop. Behind The Business
Sweetberry Bowls was founded in 2017 by Desi Saran, a West New York resident and entrepreneur. He was formerly associated with Playa Bowls, but appears he ventured off to do his own thing — and with gusto! The company offers a fast and relatively healthy menu, and is rapidly franchising throughout the country to locations including Florida {as well as all around NJ}.
The Menu

Sweetberry Bowls allows customers to DIY their bowls — pretty similar to most spots in the area. Whether it be acai, pitaya, coconut, or green-based, each menu item is completely customizable. Sweetberry’s menu makes it easy to mix and match bases and toppings, but if you want to be truly photo-worthy, opt for one of their signature bowls. {HG Tip: The coconut base is clutch for anyone craving a yogurt treat sans the dairy.} Hearty salads, oatmeals, smoothies, and coffee are among the other items to-go.

The Atmosphere
Bright colors and a tropical feel = much-needed year-round, but especially in winter months. Green faux plants hang from the ceiling and the walls, and the interior is accented with hot pink and white decor, making it quite the gram-worthy spot.
