Sunmerry Bakery specialized in freshly-baked pastries, danishes, and traditional Taiwanese treats. It was founded in 1986 and was inspired by traditional Japanese baking techniques and Taiwanese flavors. It was the first of its kind to hit Hoboken’s streets. The first U.S. location popped up 26 years ago in Fort Lee and expanded to other locations throughout the Garden State.

Before the store’s rebranding, customers were able to order a variety of coffee drinks, all brewed from Segefredo, like regular hot and cold brew, cappuccinos, lattes, Americanos, matcha lattes, and even salted cheese coffee, which is a traditional Asian drink served with salted cream cheese, heavy cream, cheese powder, sugar, and a sprinkle of sea salt. All the treats were baked on-site and included traditional Japanese treats such as taro bolo buns, taro mochi, custard roll cake, and custard tart, as well as danishes, croissants, and brioches.
