To help you get your list in order, we’ve rounded up a list of 10 restaurants in the area that have opened up within the last six months that you should definitely check out. Read on to find out more about these new restaurants you must try – happy eating!

Jersey City

Los Cuernos {499 Washington Boulevard}

Los Cuernos

From the owners of Taqueria Downtown {so you know it’s going to be good}, Los Cuernos opened in February of 2018. The new spot features the tacos locals have come to love with a few variations – check out the more high-end dishes like the camarones al mojo de ajo {garlic grilled shrimp with Mexican rice} and pescado a la Veracruzana {red snapper topped with grilled tomatoes, capers, olives, and onions}.

The Ashford {145 Newark Avenue}

This restaurant/lounge and rooftop {note: an oyster bar is coming to the rooftop area very soon!} opened officially on New Year’s Eve to a limited menu, but now boasts brunch and dinner, with dishes like truffle mac and cheese bites, country fried chicken, and creamy Cajun bowtie pasta. The Ashford also offers an extensive cocktail menu — and party vibe — cocktails are based off Ireland’s Prince of Wales bar {located inside Ashford Castle} with an extensive variety of whiskey mixed drinks {so you can feel a bit fancy, too}.

Mezcal Kitchen {665 Newark Avenue}

After the first location opened in Bayonne a few years ago {with absolutely delicious food}, a second location has now popped up in Jersey City as of December 2018. Featuring authentic Mexican dishes like tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, just about any item on this menu is sure to please – and be sure to check out the homemade white or red sangria {— dare we say Mezcal} while there.

The drinks are quality, and if you’re lucky — the bartender will give you an education on sake and how to order/drink it with your meal.
