Hummus Republic | 2 Journal Square Plaza
Hummus Republic is set to open a new location in the Journal Square plaza. With grab-and-go Mediterranean wraps, bowls, and pita–it’s a great place to grab lunch while on your daily commute. It also has vegan and gluten-free options.
Loews Theatre | 54 Journal Square Plaza

This long-awaited Journal Square staple is finally planning to open up in 2026. The Loews Theatre was built back in 1929 and was a hub of entertainment for quite some time. This restoration project is a collaborative partnership between the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency, the State of New Jersey, and Harris Blitzer Sports + Entertainment. Phelps Construction Group is overseeing construction.

Paris Baguette | 531 Summit Avenue
After opening a location near the Newport PATH station, Paris Baguette is opening another location a few steps away from the Journal Square PATH. It will be situated on the base floor of the Journal Squared building and will be the second location in Jersey City.
Target | 104 Sip Avenue
After months of uncertainty surrounding Journal Square’s new Target, it is set to open on March 15th, 2026. This Target will be 40,000 square feet and situated on the ground floor of 36 Journal Square.
Wonder Bagels | 626 Newark Avenue, Jersey City
This will be Wonder Bagels’ 8th location in Jersey City and Bayonne, established in the recently completed high-rise at 626 Newark Avenue. The opening date has not yet been announced, but it’s a great place for commuters to stop by before work.
