With such an abundance of Mexican cuisine in the Jersey City area, everyone has had their fair share of tacos and street corn, but we bet no one has paired their favorite Mexican bites with cereal… until now. The owners of Buddy’s in Jersey City, known for their famous cereal stuffed pancakes, have tried their hand at Mexican food with a twist, like incorporating Fruity Pebbles in their street corn. The restaurant, Los Dos, is located in Paulus Hook {100 York Street, Jersey City} right next door to its sister establishment. The Background
Owners George and Michelle wanted to bring something different to this side of Jersey City. They wanted an environment that was casual and warm with a sense of community.
Los Dos opened its doors this past Cinco de Mayo {May 5th}, offering a laid back, family-friendly atmosphere with amazing happy hour deals and unique Mexican fare. The most unique item on their menu is probably their Bedrock Street Corn, incorporating Fruity Pebbles, sour cream, and paprika for a sweet and spicy delight. If customers want a more savory, spicy option, they can try the Flamin Corn, made with hot Doritos.
The Food
Other than their noteworthy street corn, Los Dos offers a variety of authentic Mexican dishes as well. Mauricio, the general manager of both Los Dos and Buddy’s, recommends first-timers to try the mini chimis or carne asada fries as appetizers.
For mains, he suggests either the Elote Dog {yes, a Mexican hot dog}, the quinoa avocado burrito {a vegan option}, or the short rib or vegan tacos. Make sure to arrive with a big appetite {and maybe even a bottle of TUMS}, because the Elote Dog comes fully wrapped in bacon, and topped with corn, chipotle mayo, cilantro, more bacon bits, and fries.

The Drinks
The drinks menu is filled with classic favorites and fun cocktails The classic margarita is a must and is only $5 during happy hour. Another delish cocktail to try is the Oaxacan Punch, make with mezcal, lemon juice, beets, and strawberries, mixed to create a magenta masterpiece.
The Deals at Los Dos
Happy hour is Monday through Thursday from 2:00PM-7:00PM, and Fridays all day. Stop by on Taco Tuesdays for $2 tacos, and on Fridays, Los Dos brews 1942 Tequila for only $12, no matter how the customer wants it.

Los Dos is open Monday–Thursday from 11:00AM-11:00PM, Friday + Saturday from 11:00AM-12:00AM, and Sunday from11:00AM-10:00PM.
There is a reason for so many five-star Yelp reviews. But don’t take our word for it, go check out what all the hype is about. Los Dos is great for happy hour with friends or a casual date night. Word of advice though, stay away from the Elote Dog if on a first date… although delicious, it can be quite the mess.
