Free Passes from the Hoboken Public Library | 500 Park Avenue, Hoboken

Not just for checking out the latest bestseller, your library card will get you free passes to a ton of museums. From the Hoboken Historical Museum to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, this library benefit is checked out like books. Both The Hoboken Public Library and The Jersey City Free Public Library (472 Jersey Avenue, Jersey City) also host a slew of classes and creative workshops packed with cooking, wellness, and crafts, including writing labs and animal encounters.

Hoboken + Jersey City Farmers’ Markets | Multiple Locations

Hoboken is home to three farmers’ markets every year, including the Downtown Farmers’ Market (June-November), Midtown Farmers’ Market (June-November), and the current market, Uptown Farmers’ Market (May-December). For Jersey City, the HDSID Farmers’ Market occurs in the winter from January 15th – April 16th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and in the spring, fall, and summer from April 20th – December 21st from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and the Riverview Farmers’ Market runs from May through November (rain or shine) at 498 Palisade Avenue. For a fun and free activity, take a stroll down one of the markets and window shop for local produce and treats from farmers and businesses.

Self-Guided Tour of Hudson County | Multiple Locations

Hudson County provides a list of four different walking tours that residents or visitors can take on their own at any time. While the tours are self-guided, there are maps walkers can follow. The tours include the Hudson County’s Outdoor Art Gallery Mural Tour, Hudson County Historical Walking Tour, A Walk in Sinatra’s Shoes, and Hoboken Historical Walking Tour. The Van Wagenen House, also known as The Apple Tree House | 298 Academy Street, Jersey City

Visit the historic house where legend claims General George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette ate under the shade of an apple tree. Free lectures and special events are held at the house, and tours are open to the public every Wednesday.

In Hoboken, there is a Romance Book Club, Mystery Book Club, Sci-Fi and Fantasy Book Club, “What’s New” Book Club, and the Hoboken Public Library Friends and Foundations Book Club. Record Riots | Grove Street PATH Plaza, Jersey City

Record Riots is a festival for music lovers filled with new + vintage vinyl. More than 40 vendors are set up in the Grove Street PATH Plaza in Jersey City for this festival a few times each year, and the event is free to attend. Upcoming dates for the spring and summer seasons include June 6th, September 27th, October 4th, and November 1st.
