With technology improving by the minute, there are now more ways than ever to undergo safe, non-invasive, and affordable cosmetic treatments. Coolsculpting is just one of the many modern technologies that require no downtime, is FDA cleared, and is quick and virtually pain-free. Read on to find out where to get Coolsculpting in and around Hudson County.

Coolsculpting is the process of freezing fat cells on stubborn areas of the body including thighs, arms, double chin, or those stubborn love handles that no amount of SLT classes or juice cleanses seem to eliminate. Sessions can take anywhere from 35 minutes to a few hours {depending on the area being treated} with no needles and no anesthesia used, so customers can sit back, read a book, listen to their favorite podcast, or even answer emails during their treatment.

We sat down with Coolsculpting professional, Kristina Lalli, {from Spa Society in Weehawken}, who graciously answered all of our questions and gave us more insight as to how it works.

How Coolsculpting Works

Kristina explains that the coolsculpting technology penetrates and kills fat cells without damaging the skin or underlying tissue. It is not a weight-loss treatment, but rather a body contouring treatment, and is guaranteed to get rid of 20-25% of fat cells in the area being treated. In the weeks following treatment, the body will naturally eliminate the dead fat cells through sweat, waste, and urine.

What Coolsculpting Feels Like

“If a person was to put a bag of ice on their stomach and leave it there for a long period of time, that is essentially how it would feel,” Kristina laughs. She explains that it feels very cold for the first three minutes, then starts to feel tingly {think pins and needles}. After about three minutes, it will start to feel hot {the freezer burn effect}, and after six or seven minutes, it will be numb for the remainder of the session.

What to Expect After Treatment

Immediately following treatment, Kristen explains that the skin will be red, hard, and clients may feel a burning sensation during the warm-up process. After treatment, the area may feel numb for three weeks. The first seven days following treatment, people may feel bloated {if the belly area was treated}, and the area may be inflamed as the fat cells are breaking down. Kristen explains that clients will start to notice results in as little as three weeks. First, they will notice a difference in how their clothing fits, then after about three to four months, they will see visual results.

Who Are the Best Candidates?

The rule is “if you can squeeze it, we can freeze it” Kristen says. Coolsculpting cannot treat hard, visceral fat, but rather soft, pinch-able, gushy fat. Clients of all shapes and sizes can benefit, even those who are thin and muscular, but just need a little extra help losing those pesky love handles. Women trying to bounce back after giving birth also make great candidates.

How Many Sessions Will be Needed?

Kristen explains that Spa Society will treat the same area a maximum of three times, with a minimum of three weeks in between sessions. Multiple sessions can be performed in one sitting, using different applicators for different areas.

How Much Will it Cost?

Coolsculpting can cost anywhere from $1,400 to $6,000 depending on the area{s} being treated, Kristen explains. $1,400 for smaller areas such as the double chin or love handles, and up to $6,000 if clients want to treat multiple, larger areas such as the entire midriff or legs. Spa Society works with each client to make the most of their treatment and align with their budget.

Is it Permanent?

Once the fat cells are killed, they are gone, Kristen assures.  If a client gains or loses weight, the remaining fat cells will shrink or enlarge, but the area will always remain proportionately smaller.
