    Surya Yoga Academy {341 Grove Street}

    A Hoboken and Jersey City staple, Surya Yoga is known for its hot flow and 75 minute hot classical Hatha classes. They also offer unheated classes, if you don’t feel like sweating. Unheated classes include an open vinyasa flow as well as a yin flow, which is a slower approach to yoga focusing on longer stretches while calming the nervous system using long slow breaths. Pre- and post-natal classes available as well. They have an offer of unlimited classes for just $25!

    Beloved World — formerly Yoga in the Heights {317 Central Avenue}

    Beloved World seems to have it all — Vinyasa flow, power flow, hot yoga, candlelit flow, Kundalini, corporate yoga, restorative yoga and yoga in the park. There’s even massage and reiki available by appointment. Teachers come from different backgrounds and owner Bridget Fujioka focuses on meeting students where they’re at as a means of “creating a conscious world.”

    Powerflow {160 Morgan Street}

    The popular hot yoga studio in Hoboken made its debut in Jersey City this year and already has a cult following. Classes include hot power hour, hot powerflow vinyasa, warm powerflow basics, hot powerflow HIIT, warm yin-yang yoga and even a hot Jivamukti inspired flow.     Sattva Yoga {523 Palisade Avenue}

    Sattva Yoga is a community-driven approachable and affordable yoga concept created by Karen Mandell, who started practicing yoga in 1998 to escape the stresses of being a fashion executive. While her classes are inspired by the ISHTA {Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda} lineage of chakra-based vinyasa yoga, Sattva has many different teachers from different yogic and professional backgrounds as executives, photographers and even professional athletes. In addition to the various vinyasa flows available {including Mommy & Me classes for toddlers and babies alike}, Sattva also hosts yoga in the different parks as well as Yoga for 12 Step Recovery: a 30 minute 12 step recovery meeting followed by a 60 minute intentionally themed yoga practice.

    Michelle Timek Yoga {150 Bay Street, Suite 909}

    A vinyasa-based studio with a homey feel, Michelle Timek yoga studio offers flow, restorative, pre- and post-natal classes as well as kids classes. Waterfront yoga is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month from June – September from 9:00AM-10:15AM. Various workshops are also offered at the studio including Partner Yoga and Reiki.

    Sacred Souls Yoga {2983 John F Kennedy Boulevard, Suite 403}

    All classes at Sacred Souls Yoga is taught in the traditional Hatha yoga style: a combination of gentle relaxation, warm-up exercise {sun salutations}, yoga poses {asanas}, and breathing exercise (pranayama). All levels are welcome and private sessions are available as well.

    Simha Yoga Lab at Vito Lofts {190 Christopher Columbus Drive #2B}

    Founder Steven Cheng offers a unique form of vinyasa that he describes as a combination of his teachers’ philosophies while allowing room for students to experiment and modify. He explains, “This is how my teacher, Dharma Mittra, teaches by giving the liberty to express and reinterpret the poses. There is also the discipline of alignment and structure, as taught by my other teacher, Alison West.     Yoga Shunya {275 Grove Street, 3rd Floor}

    In addition to the Hatha-based yoga classes for all levels {Level 1, Level 2, Express, Restorative, and Slow Stretch}, Yoga Shunya rounds their yoga offerings by hosting a popular student-led donation-based meditation group on Sundays from 9:00AM-10:30AM. The group focuses on mindful meditation in the tradition of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh but is also open to all traditions and affiliations. Mindfulness generates awareness, which builds concentration, ultimately leading to insight.

    Asana Soul Practice {124 1st Street}

    A Hoboken favorite, Asana Soul Practice has been operating in Hudson County since January 2017. With their second location, Asana Soul has spread their vinyasa-based yoga classes to interested JC yogis. Asana Soul sets themselves apart from other studios with their classes that move to the sounds of an in-house DJ. Other classes practice their poses accompanied by live music, while some meditate in a sound bath. New moms can also bring their newborns to Asana Soul’s postnatal yoga session, Baby Soul.

    SANCRI

    The SANCRI Center at The Cliffs Collection is a holistic wellness space dedicated to healing through a number of forms. Their yoga classes use Hatha-based methods to give clients a more meditative experience. This 24-fitness center offers a number of amenities, including a Himalayan salt sauna, massage services, and an amethyst bio mat. The bio mat uses scientific techniques to restore muscle tissue in the body. The center also grants guests access to a wellness library (with a fireplace} for a relaxing space to read before or after class.
