Something sweet is landing in the Mile Square. The Baked Bear, the popular ice cream sandwich shop known for warm cookies, premium ice cream, and build-your-own dessert creations, is headed to 730 Washington Street in Hoboken. The brand currently lists its Hoboken location as “coming soon” on its website. Read on for what we know about The Baked Bear’s upcoming arrival in Hoboken.
The Baked Bear Is Coming to Hoboken
A reader first sent The Hoboken Girl a tip that The Baked Bear could be making its way to Hoboken, and after doing some digging, we spotted Hoboken listed on the brand’s website as a future location. The new shop is slated for 730 Washington Street (the former AXD location), bringing another dessert option to one of Hoboken’s busiest stretches. As for what used to call 730 Washington Street home, AXD is not gone for good. The boutique has merged with Alba Boutique as a one-stop shop, which has the same owner, just a few doors down at 716 Washington Street. While an exact opening date has not yet been announced, the “coming soon” listing confirms that the Mile Square is officially on The Baked Bear’s expansion map.
About The Baked Bear
Per the company’s website, The Baked Bear was founded by childhood friends Rob Robbins and Shane Stanger, who left their careers in 2012 to pursue a shared dream of opening a restaurant together in San Diego. Inspired by Rob’s favorite childhood dessert, ice cream sandwiches, the duo created a concept centered around customizable cookie-and-ice-cream creations.

The first Baked Bear location opened in Pacific Beach, California, in May 2013. Since then, the brand has grown across the country, serving up warm cookie ice cream sandwiches, brownie sandwiches, ice cream scoops, sundaes, and other sweet treats. For New Jersey locals, this will not be the brand’s first Garden State location. The Baked Bear currently has shops in Asbury Park, Long Branch, New Brunswick, and Westfield, along with a shore-based food truck. Hoboken is one of two additional New Jersey locations listed as coming soon, with a Princeton outpost also in the works.
What’s on the Menu at The Baked Bear?
Think of The Baked Bear as a DIY Chipwich, but with more options and a warm cookie situation that takes things up a level. The process starts with choosing your base. Customers can pick from a variety of cookies, with options ranging from classics like chocolate chip to flavors like confetti, Nutella, and more. From there, guests choose an ice cream flavor, with options that can include everything from strawberry and s’mores to caramel pretzel fudge, plus vegan selections.

Then come the toppings: sprinkles, chocolate chips, Nutella, + other sweet add-ons. The final step is having the sandwich pressed warm, creating a gooey and delish finale. If you’re asking us, our dream order would be a snickerdoodle cookie filled with strawberry ice cream and topped with an unreasonable amount of sprinkles. Pressed, obviously.
An official opening date for The Baked Bear’s Hoboken location has not yet been shared. The Hoboken Girl has reached out to The Baked Bear team for more information about the opening timeline and will update this article as more details become available.
