About Hartshorn Portraiture
Hartshorn Portraiture was founded by Mac Hartshorn, a professional photographer with 30 years of experience. Mac worked in the fashion industry, shooting for many catalogues and publications like Cosmopolitan Magazine, before moving from Miami to Hoboken to grow the studio alongside his growing family.
That family lens shows up in the way Mac plans his sessions. The studio works with infants, children, expectant parents, multi-generational families, and more, centering sessions around capturing real chapters in each family’s life. The Harshorn team is also welcoming, and the studio is light-filled and comfortable.
More Than Just Photos
Something special about Hartshorn Portraiture is how the team guides families through the entire portrait process. Between session planning, selecting outfits, photography, curation, and final touches, clients are taken through every step of the process with intention. It’s a personalized approach (which we love), and after the session, you can even view your images to decide how they’ll fill your home’s space. There are also plenty of options, as Hartshorn Portraiture creates portraits in color, sepia, and black + white.
HG pro tip: As great as the studio is, don’t hesitate to request an outdoor location, which Hartshorn Portraiture can also photograph at.
The Production Process
On the production side, Hartshorn Portraiture uses in-house editing and printing to take each piece through a detailed process. This includes color approval, hand-cutting, and museum-quality framing by artisans under its supervision.
You have the option of having your artwork on Canvas or Watercolor. Mac uses giclée, a printing method with fade-resistant, archival inks, to create its pieces at a museum-level quality. They’re then signed by Mac Hartshorn. Hartshorn Portraiture also provides heirloom photo albums, cards, and frames, so if you want to learn more about the options, visit its website.
