Hoboken and Jersey City are packed with bars providing everything from trivia to bingo to board games, but if you’re looking to shake up your happy hour, check out one of these table tennis hot spots around town. We love a good table tennis match at a bar but you don’t even have to play with a drink in one hand if you’re looking for a more family-friendly option. Keep reading to discover all the best bars and parks where you challenge a friend to a game of table tennis in Hoboken + Jersey City.
Church Square Park | 400 Garden Street
If you have your own table tennis equipment, head to the outdoor tables in Church Square Park. A reader on our Hoboken Girl Insiders Facebook page told us that they go here once a week to play table tennis with a friend. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed game on a sunny, summer day and you’ll find the tables near the basketball courts.

Play Hoboken | 1012 Grand Street Floor 3
Play Hoboken has eight tables for competitive and casual table tennis enthusiasts. It’s open every day of the week and play is pay-by-the-hour with discounts for matinee pricing. It’s BYOB meaning adults can enjoy a drink along with some friendly competition — however other outside food and drinks are not allowed. Monthly table tennis packages are available plus you can play billiards, e-sports, and board games here, too.
Lackawanna Coffee | 295 Grove Street
Not only is this one of the best spots for a latte in Jersey City but there’s a semi-secret garden in the back complete with a table tennis table. (Ok, it’s not that secret — there is a sign on the door letting you know it’s the outdoor garden). After ordering, grab your drink and head through the small door just past the counter to get to the outdoor seating area. In the backyard, you’ll find everything you need for the ultimate table tennis match — a full-sized table and a basket filled with paddles and table tennis balls. Just be mindful of the other coffee lovers in the space who don’t want to get hit with a rogue table tennis ball.
Greene Hook Bar + Kitchen | 70 Greene Street
Greene Hook Bar is a favorite post-work hang with the Exchange Place crowd and happy hour discounts are offered Monday through Friday from 4PM to 6PM. When the weather is nice, take advantage of the table tennis table on the patio. You’ll have to ask for the paddles and balls but once you’ve got your supplies you’ll be ready for a unique happy hour activity. Looking for more? Green Hook Bar also hosts a shuffleboard league.

Golden Cicada | 195 Grand Street
Golden Cicada’s backyard features a table tennis table making the Baja Beergarden the perfect spot to meet up with friends on a summer night. If you need a bite to eat in between table tennis matches, the menu includes some delicious mezcal nachos and buffalo cauliflower tacos.
