What to Know

The Monday, November 4th Hoboken Historic Preservation Committee meeting agenda revealed an application for Sweetgreen at 218 Washington Street. Some of the items included in the application are changes to signage, general repairs/restoration, and other architectural plans. The space at 218 Washington Street was formerly home to DryBar, a national blow-dry studio chain. Hoboken’s DryBar location closed in early 2024.

As of this writing, no opening date has been set. We’ve reached out to Sweetgreen and will update this post with any additional comments.

In August 2020, Sweetgreen opened its first New Jersey store in Jersey City. Just a few months later in October 2020, Sweetgreen hosted a pop-up ‘outpost’ on wheels at 5th and Hudson in Hoboken — but this is the first we’re hearing about a permanent brick-and-mortar location. The Hoboken outpost will mark its second in Hudson County.
