The Hoboken location of Drybar, a popular chain of blow-dry studios, announced it would be closing in early February. The business, located at 218 Washington Street, is known for its chic blowouts and other styles, and sent an email to local subscribers this week announcing the closure. Read on for more about what we know about the closure of Hoboken’s DryBar.

About Drybar

The blowout bar concept was created by Alli Webb, a professional hairstylist trained by Toni + Guy, who in 2008 had started a side hustle called “Straight-at-Home” where she did in-home blowouts for friends. She decided to realize her dream and took the concept to a salon, which would later become Drybar.

The salon offers no color or cuts, just blowouts and some styles. The business takes the ‘bar’ concept from top to bottom, with products named after drinks and hairstyles named after cocktails. Customers get a ‘menu’ with different hairstyles to choose from. The hairstylists are called Bartenders and the membership program for customers is called Barfly.

The chain has locations nationwide and a proprietary line of hair styling products. The Hoboken location opened in 2018.

The Closure

Hoboken Drybar members got an email from the chain on January 30th, 2024 saying that the location at 218 Washington Street would close, effective February 9th, 2024. Existing credits will expire on April 30th, 2024 unless members re-join a different Drybar location. See the full message below:
