In December 2019, salad chain sweetgreen announced it was making a new home in Jersey City — its first-ever venture into New Jersey. Now, after opening a sweetgreen in Jersey City this past August, the salad chain has announced it has opened a Hoboken sweetgreen pop-up ‘outpost’ at 5th and Hudson Street.

A reader shared sweetgreen’s Instagram story with us Thursday night, which was a mere slide + swipe up link that said, “sweetgreen is coming to your neighborhood,” also noting the location as Hoboken, NJ on Hudson Street + 5th Street.
Update as of 10/30 at 8:15AM:
Several sources shared that this location is a “sweetgreen outpost” — rather than a second location.
But here’s what they shared on IG stories, which proves to be slightly misleading:
Other readers have confirmed they received these emails from sweetgreen:
Since its inception in 2007, sweetgreen has become a popular salad chain in New York City, with locations throughout Manhattan. Originally from Washington D.C., the salad destination has locations throughout the nation including Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, California — and now, New Jersey.
Sweetgreen’s 1st New Jersey Location in Jersey City
With many COVID-19 delays, sweetgreen in Jersey City was originally slated to be opening in the spring of 2020, but the company ended up opening its JC location on August 12th. Just two-plus months later, the chain has announced its Hoboken outpost on Hudson Street — a second location doesn’t appear to be confirmed; moreso, it’s a spot for locals to pick up their sweetgreen since they don’t do delivery at this time to Hoboken residences.
The Menu
While sweetgreen is not purely vegetarian or vegan, it’s very veggie-friendly. The Hummus + Tahina and Lentil + Avocado salads don’t come with animal proteins and are made up entirely of veggies.
Its current online menu boasts seasonal options such as Chicken + Brussels — a dish of roasted chicken, roasted brussels sprouts, roasted sweet potatoes, apples, raw walnuts, organic mesclun, chopped romaine, and cranberry maple vinaigrette and Curry Cauliflower — featuring blackened chicken thighs, curry roasted cauliflower, shredded cabbage, cilantro, raisins, warm quinoa, organic arugula, sweetgreen hot sauce, and cucumber tahini yogurt dressing, as well as Spiced Cider Fresca and Spindrift Cranberry-Raspberry beverages.

The sweetgreen menu is also made up of other categories like Warm Bowls, Salads, and Make-Your-Own — a build-it-yourself option in which customers can pick their base, ingredients, premium ingredients, and of course, dressings.
