Mango Mango Dessert is coming soon to Jersey City. Construction is underway at its new location at 175 2nd Street. The original New York-based dessert shop opened over a decade ago and has since expanded across the US, with five locations being in New Jersey. New Location

Mango Mango Dessert opened its first location in New York’s Chinatown in 2013. According to the website, the originators were “inspired by the constant innovation of the city [and] decided to fuse sweet soups in traditional Hong Kong style with modern desserts.”

Sam Sheng is the owner of the Jersey City location. He told The Hoboken Girl that he has opened other restaurants including a hot pot restaurant in Long Island City, a fried chicken restaurant also in Long Island City, and Mango Mango Artisan Lab that’s located at 23 Saint Marks Place, New York, NY.

He explained why he has decided to branch out and open Mango Mango Dessert in Jersey City: “The reason why we want to open a Mango Mango Dessert in Jersey City is that we think JC is a good place and it is very energetic. And more and more people are coming to live in JC.” He also added that Jersey City is “developing well and fast.”

The dessert shop’s location is connected to DVORA 175 Second, a luxury apartment rental building, with the eatery’s storefront located on Marin Boulevard. It is within walking distance to the ShopRite of Metro Plaza and other restaurants such as O’Hara’s Downtown and Hudson Hall.

About The Menu

The Jersey City location will carry the same menu items as the other Mango Mango Dessert locations, the owner told HG. At the moment, there are 30 fresh fruit drinks to select from, each having the option to add toppings such as crystal jelly, lychee jelly, black rice, and red bean. Some of the flavors include Oreo Brûlée Bubble Milk Tea, Man-coco Sticky Smoothie, Snow White Strawberry Smoothie-o, and Fresh Passion Fruit Green Tea with Seed.

As far as the classic handmade desserts, there are 42 options on the menu, all ranging from ice cream sundaes and juice-based bowls to pancakes and fruit cakes. Some of these include Mango Juice Rice Ball with Ice Cream, Musang King Durian Dessert Bowl, Taro Ball with Herbal Jelly, Triple Ice Cream Delight (Green Tea, Vanilla, Mango with Chocolate Syrup), Coco Crepe Roll, Autumn Chestnut Earl Grey Cake, Dark Chocolate Matcha Honey Cake and Brown Sugar Cream Puffs.

In addition, customers can create a crepe or waffle dessert by choosing a flavor with Nutella and an ice cream flavor. There are also hot desserts that are soup-based and come with rice balls as well as hot tea and hot fruit tea items.

Coming Soon

Sam told HG that there is still construction going on, but they were hoping to have a soft opening at the end of February or by the beginning of March.

His goals for the shop will be to “give the best service and best dessert” to the community. “We will try our best to serve this community,” he shared. “Also, there will be a good vibe in our store. People can hang out here, study here, talk here, enjoy everything here.”
