The store is intentionally set up for kids to enjoy which makes it one place parents and kids can relax together. A few nooks have tiny chairs or kid-sized couches for reading and one nook has a basket of magnet tiles and blocks. The shop offers gift cards which make for great gifts. The adult section of the bookstore is accessible by stairs through the children’s annex or from the main entrance on Bloomfield Street.

Hudson Paperie specializes in locally-made wedding, event, and personal stationery. Order custom invitations or buy a one-of-a-kind gift from their gift boutique. In addition to being a Pinterest-worthy store, they have fun party supplies to interest the younger customers, and a small selection that makes it easy to see everything before little ones grow impatient.

JoJo Maman Bebe {407 Washington Street}

This UK-based chain has been a welcome addition to Washington Street since it opened in June 2018. Geared toward those with young, growing families, customers can find high-quality clothing, shoes, toys, and other baby supplies all under one roof. The toy section in the back of the store can entertain the kids while parents look around. Organized by gender and size, the shop is easy to navigate  JoJo Maman Bebe has a little of everything — from wooden toys to rainboots to potty training help, customers are bound to find something right up their alley.

Symposia Community Bookstore {510 Washington Street}

Not the first place Hobokenites might look to for a kid-friendly time but Symposia Bookstore hosts baby yoga classes and Puppetonia puppet shows that kids love. The bookstore itself is fairly traditional with a quaint library feel, but the activities make this spot really appealing to little ones. Puppet shows are held Monday-Friday at 10:00AM and 11:00AM while baby yoga is held on Tuesdays at 1:30PM and Thursdays at 12:00PM. Tickets are available online at puppetonia.com. Note: While the shop is stroller accessible, all strollers must be left outside while attending a class or puppet show.

Big Fun Toys {602 Washington Street}

This location has an abundance of toys for all ages including puzzles, crafts, dress-ups, and games. Keeping their clientele in mind, the store has a train table in the back to occupy boys and girls alike. Buy a card and have the present gift-wrapped for a one-stop-shop experience.

Peper Apparel + Parlor Shoes {938 Washington Street}

This cute shop isn’t geared towards kids but it made the list for a few reasons. There is enough space to easily shop and navigate with a stroller, there aren’t breakable or expensive things that grabby hands can reach from the stroller, and their curated style and size selection lends itself to being a relatively quick stop, making this a great shop for the whole family to go to.

Wee Babe {1208 Washington Street}

Appropriately named, this is an excellent store for shoppers looking for items for a new baby. Most items are designed for babies under one year so customers can expect teethers, bibs, onesies, blankets, and more. Wee Babe boasts one of the few stroller displays in town with several high-end strollers and car seats available for test driving and ordering. Keeping their audience in mind, the displays at Wee Babe are easily reachable for big brothers and sisters. Don’t worry about toddlers or older kids breaking items in the shop as everything is designed to survive those rough first few years, allowing mom to shop in peace.

Flo on Wheels {1222 Washington Street}

Families can feel like they’re always on the go but after a stop at Flo on Wheels they really will be. This small shop carries brightly colored children’s scooters, bikes, helmets, and accessories. They also supply regular adult and hybrid bikes in addition to offering bike repairs. As an added perk, employees at Flo on Wheels will also fix a flat stroller tire so families can stay on the go. Every bike and scooter is appropriately anchored to the rack on the floor, or the holder on the wall, ensuring that little ones will stay safe while they explore their options for speed.
