In a heartfelt post, Evan explains the move, stating, ” Guys, COVID really sucked but it did produce one good thing: it brought the best out of my team—we’re freakin’ strong.” It continued, ” This post comes from a bitter-sweet place. The move is a good thing. Growth and change is something we all should embrace, but it’s always hard to move away from the people you’ve grown to love and appreciate.”

“To my Heights fam: Thank you for trusting & believing in us, we couldn’t have pushed through this season without you. As a resident of Jersey City Heights, our Heights location has been very near & dear to our heart,” the post continued.

“To our Downtown Jersey City fam: What’s good ya’ll! Some of you might remember us when we were at Exchange Place in our little 1970’s horse trailer. Wellll, we’re back with a few upgrades to say the least.”

About The Owner

An ode to travel, family, and community, the Hybrid Coffee truck serves the full European espresso experience to its guests. Owner Evan Santiago, a Jersey City resident who is of Puerto Rican and Italian descent opened the cafe in Jersey City’s Harborside on April 8th this year, pursuing his entrepreneurship dream.

While traveling in Sorrento, Italy, Evan spent time at local cafes, watching Italians one-by-one rapidly order from a large espresso bar. After witnessing this efficiency and studying the art of coffee, he opened Hybrid.

Evan immersed himself in everything there is to know about coffee. After studying design from some of the best fine artists and architects he knew, Evan visited local coffee shops to get insight into owning one himself. He asked baristas about the process, beans, grinds, and really learned the art + science of coffee.

A real people person, Evan appreciates the Jersey City community and wants to invest in the place he lives. He likes to say he’s Hoboken-born, but Jersey City bred where he’s spent most of his life.

“As we progress with the build-out, I’ll be posting updates because it’s important that you’re part of the progress/process,” Evan concluded in the Instagram post announcing the move. To stay in the know about Hybrid Coffee’s plans, follow the shop on Instagram.
