Hoboken is known to be one of the most expensive cities in the country. However, getting a day’s worth of activities in on a budget is not as hard as it may seem. Taking on the challenge of eating twice and completing at least one activity in a day for under $50 was a fun way to explore all of the hidden gems and small businesses Hoboken has to offer. Read on to check out our itinerary for a budget-friendly day in the Mile Square.
Activity 1: Breakfast at Mojo Coffee Company | $9.75
Hoboken has no shortage of coffee shops. Finding a spot for a morning pick-me-up before heading out for the day is a must. We stopped by Mojo Coffee at 320 Willow Avenue (2nd location is at 801 Bloomfield Street) for a Funfetti latte and everything croissant. This coffee shop has many similarly priced latte and treat options to mix and match. We couldn’t pass it up at just $9.75 for both items.

Activity 2: Shopping at Little City Books | $18.00
Little City Books, located 100 Bloomfield Street, has some of the cutest finds in Hoboken. Of course, customers usually stop by for all things reading, but many are surprised to learn about the complete section of games and puzzles offered. We stopped in to pick up some reading and relaxation essentials. We added a fun bookmark and challenging jigsaw puzzle to our baskets before heading out. After taking time to browse the store, we dropped $18.00 at check-out.
Activity 3: Chill on Pier C | Free
Pier C is just a short walk from Little City Books and is the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon. We already had a book in our bag, and with our new treasures from Little City Books, we were set up for a great afternoon with even better views. We took time to take in the NYC skyline and people (+ dog) watch. Hoboken Parks provide lots to do for all ages and with a $0 price tag, we couldn’t pass it up.
Activity 4: Lunch at Grimaldi’s | $13.30
No day in Hoboken is complete without a stop for a great bite of pizza. Grimaldi’s has been serving brick-oven pizza in the heart of Hoboken at 411 Washington Street for years. After working up an appetite on Pier C, it was a great choice for lunch. We ordered the traditional pizza for $13.30.

Activity 5: Paletas at Morelia | $9.00
After lunch, we stopped at one of Hoboken’s newest sweet spots, Morelia, located at 932 Washington Street. Morelia offers traditional paletas, which are ice pops that have roots in Mexican cuisine and are traditionally made from frozen fruits like strawberries and mangos. Morelia has taken the traditional paleta and upgraded it. Customers can order ice pops from a large variety of flavors and then can have those ice pops dipped in a silky-smooth dipping option and topped with a crunchy treat. Dipping options include dark chocolate, white chocolate, cookie butter, and crunchy hazelnut. The toppings have almost limitless options. Our favorites include Oreo cookies, rainbow sprinkles, and graham crackers. A dipped and topped paleta costs $9.00.
