Hoboken’s Christmas Tree Lighting 2024: Event Details

The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Business Alliance ringing in the 2024 holiday season with its annual community events. The Hoboken Christmas tree lighting will take place on Thursday, December 12th, the annual Hoboken holiday market took place on Saturday, December 7th, and the Hoboken menorah lighting will take place on Sunday, December 29th in partnership with Chabad of Hoboken + Jersey City. Hoboken Christmas Tree Lighting

The City of Hoboken and Hoboken Business Alliance will host the annual Hoboken Christmas tree lighting on Thursday, December 12th at 5PM at 11th and Washington Streets in Hoboken.

The celebration will include festive entertainment with Elvis the Elf, live performances by Hoboken youth and the Goldenrod Chorale, and a special visit from Santa Claus himself. Local Hoboken businesses including Merry
Hot Cocoa, Caf Me if You Can, and The Hive will provide free hot cocoa and baked goods to attendees.

The Hoboken Police Department will be on-site to collect new, unwrapped toys for families in need this holiday season. The Hoboken Community Center will be accepting donations of non-perishable goods and hygiene items for the pantry. Local nonprofits Mile Square Theatre and Community Lifestyle will also be present to share information about their organizations and ways the community can support them.

All Saints Episcopal Day School

The City will provide senior Hop shuttle service to and from the tree lighting. Pickup will begin at 3:30PM at the Multi-Service Center, located at 124 Grand Street in Hoboken, and stop at the following locations:

  • Columbian Towers
  • Adams Gardens
  • Columbian Arms
  • Hoboken Housing Authority
  • Monroe Gardens
  • Fox Hill Gardens

Following the event, pickup will be at 12th and Washington Streets.

Hoboken Menorah Lighting

The City of Hoboken and Chabad of Hoboken + Jersey City will host the annual Hoboken menorah lighting on Sunday, December 29th. The celebration will be held at Hoboken City Hall, located at 94 Washington Street.

The event will also include the annual gelt drop (a Hanukkah celebration that involves dropping chocolate coins) with the Hoboken Fire Department. The City noted that additional details will be announced in the coming weeks — this post will be updated with any further information.

 

 

Hoboken Holiday Market

The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Business Alliance hosted the annual Hoboken Holiday Market on Saturday, December 7th from 11AM to 5PM at the Damon Murray Community Gym at 605 Jackson Street.

Locals were able to enjoy crafters, vendors, food trucks, and a beer garden at the market, as well as activities for kids including a holiday-themed bounce house from 12PM to 4PM.

“Celebrate the holidays in Hoboken by enjoying our festive events, exploring our vibrant local shops, and supporting the small businesses that make our city so special,” Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla said via a press release last month.

“The HBA is excited to celebrate this year’s tree lighting and ring in the holiday season with the Hoboken community,” Roxanne Earley, Executive Director of the Hoboken Business Alliance, said via a press release last month. “In addition to the lighting ceremonies that will spread holiday cheer, the return of the Hoboken Holiday Market will give residents the opportunity to get a jump start on their holiday shopping, providing plenty of options for gifts and treats as well as helping support the local businesses across Hoboken that drive and grow our community! This holiday celebration helps make the season special by bringing us all together to connect and support our city.”
