A new business has emerged in Jersey City with dual specialties – a flower shop and cafe with its florist services at the forefront. Flor Y Cafe hosted its grand opening on Sunday, March 13th at 413 Central Avenue. “Fresh cut flowers and freshly brewed Puerto Rican artisanal coffee” is the cafe’s motto. The shop’s florists service Hudson and Bergen County. It prides itself on its unique floral designs, custom flower arrangements, and personalized flower delivery. The chief designer has over 50 years of experience. Customers have commissioned bouquets for all occasions ranging from birthdays to get-well gestures.

Flor Y Cafe offers a “Flowers of the Week” subscription – a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly plan. Every week, the designer will curate new fresh seasonal flowers, bouquets, and arrangements as well as useful care and styling tips. The arrangements will then be delivered on the same day in Jersey City, and next day delivery if located in other areas.

As for the other half of the shop, the coffee comes from family-run farms located in the mountains of Jayuya in Puerto Rico, at more than 2,000 ft of elevation, according to the website. “Here the coffee grows under ideal climate conditions to produce a high-quality coffee. These farms also use a meticulous process of a rigorous selection of only ripe beans, washed, then sun-dried and finally roasted to perfection.”
